You can always try to negotiate price... I'm honestly not sure about the set up fee, but if it's really high, maybe she would be willing to reduce it a little.
If you're looking to get the cost of your flowers down, you could also substitute out some more expensive stems for some less expensive ones. Good luck :)
Thanks for the reply, Blueshoes2. The set up fee (delivery and set up) is 15%. I'm guessing that's standard.
One other question I have is if it's standard to purchase the vases for the centerpieces. I'm not unhappy to keep some, but certainly don't need them all.
My florist is letting me "rent" my vases. Maybe you can ask her if that is an option?
I'd just ask her whether there's a way to bring the total cost down by $x... She wants your business, and she'll know best where there's leeway. Maybe the setup fee is where she's making most of her profit, but she might be able to substitute a less expensive flower for a more expensive one, or make the centerpieces slightly smaller, or... who knows? Let her propose something, rather than you trying to guess what's negotiable.
Thanks for the replies! I probably should have just asked if she could shave some $ off rather than specify that fee. I felt awkward because she did come under what I said my budget was, and I did notice her fee was higher than another quote.
Quick update: The florist cut the fee from 15% to 7% with the result that she will deliver the bridal party flowers to the ceremony/reception venue rather than another location, which is fine I think.
If you keep the vases, you can have people take home the centerpieces, which is nice that the flowers don't just get thrown out. But ask about rentals - my florist offers them, and I'm so excited, because I don't think I'd have been able to afford the vases otherwise.

Hi bees,
I'm very happy with the proposal from the florist I plan to use (love her vision and she's several hundred less than house florist), but wondering if I can get it down even just a bit. Has anybody had any luck waiving the set up fee? I am thinking it doesn't hurt to ask.
I appreciate any info or advice,
Juju
