How many brides out there are negotiating with vendors? Sometimes the reaction i get from some vendors make it seem like they've never been approached to possibly bring down their price or throw in a few extra {item(s) of your choice}.

am i being wrong in negotiating? Just curious...

You are absolutely NOT wrong at negotiating. I think some are more open to it than others. Especially in this economy they should be willing to negotiate with you. Bear in mind though that the requests should be within reason.

I've bargained with pretty much all vendors I've contacted. Most have been willing to either meet me there, or halfway or a couple have kindly declined that they cannot do it for so low when other customers are paying full price. The ones unwilling have been usually the "bigger" names.

If you are unsure of what price to ask for you can simply ask nicely if they can offer any discounts.

Since this is posted in pics are you asking specifically about photographers? I would say I've contacted about 2 dozen photographers and only about 3 were unwilling to meet my price somehow. The other thing to ask too is about custom packages.

It never hurts to ask and the worst thing that can happen is they say no then you move on to the next one unless you are absolutely in love with one vendor.

    Good Luck!

It NEVER hurts to ask...and if they act surprised that you are trying to bargain...you should act just as surprised that they are surprised.  Any vendor worth their salt is aware of negotiating.

I even wrote a post about it here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/06/20/the-art-of-negotiation/

    Good luck!!

Life is all about negotiations if you ask me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I negotiate everything, and haven't had a problem yet. Especially in this rough economy, most people are willing to give you a break.

You ahould absolutely try to negotiate with every single vendor. But I would avoid just asking for "discounts" which is vague. Go into the meeting knowing exactly what you want and ask for it. Ie. "I know your standard package includes 4 albums, but we only need 2. We would like to cut the albums to 2 and reduce the price by $500. Can you make that happen for us?"
