I watch my 8 mo old nephew while his parents work and I promise you, kid takes after his mother, he keeps finding ways to hit his head. I’ll have him on his giant teddy bear on top of a blanket surrounded by pillows and he still manages to nosedive onto the one unfluffy surface. I put him in his crib, he rolls headfirst into the bars. When watching him at my place, there is no crib. Most of the time I lie him on the floor or couch surrounded by makeshift blockades to keep him from hurting himself. No luck. Kid needs a helmet just to protect him from himself.
What can I do to keep him from banging his head? I’m always there and watching him, but the times he’s fallen are when I’ve turned to make him a bottle, grab a diaper, grab a blanket, etc. I’m worried he’ll get a concussion (his mamas had 3-4) and suffer the same damages as her (lots of memory loss), but short of holding him at all times, he’s very mobile and very fast and apparently accident prone. Advice?
