If you need to wear spanx.. wear it! Do whatever it takes to make yourself feel comfortable on the day of. (i.e. take a couple shots lol.. but not TOO many)
I'm the same way, but if your photographer is good, he/she should be able to make you feel comfortable.
I definitely wore spanx to my epic session and I'm not overweight.
I remember a post by Mrs Hot Wings that I came across. It's all about Making Triangles in photos to make pictures visually appealing. Very helpful.
I was nervous about having my e-pics taken too. I kept thinking how will I know what to do? What if I look funny? When my photographer started snapping away though, I realized that her job is to produce fantastic photos. Sometimes she directed us on where to stand, where to put our hands, where to look, turn sideways, hand on hip, and so on. Other times she simply said "Walk over there. Pretend I'm not here. Talk about something that happened yesterday." Yes it was awkward at first but then you realize that the photographer is an expert, and this is their job. They know how to capture your best moments.
@coffeegal85:Neither am I, but I think if I get/wear some I won't be focused on trying to contort myself in a way that is the most flattering!!
@BayStateBride:awesome link, reading it now! I've never had professional pictures taken and I'm terrified of looking super awkward and borderline scared. I really trust them, but I want to feel like I'm prepared...but with no experience I feel like there is no way for me to be really prepared!! Ahhh!!
I am just going to put it out there.... a shot of vodka does wonders for taking my jitters away. ;) Seriously, the photos will look much better if you are relaxed and actually enjoying yourself. So wear an outfit that makes you feel confident, even a little playful and sassy. And think of it as a fun date with your FI. Enjoy your time together, and the love will translate into the photos.
Good tips, thank you so much!! It's looking like I may dip into our wet bar at the beach house before we go out to shoot ;)
Wow! This is such a refreshin post to know that I am not alone. I took my e-pics this past Saturday and I was a TOTAL spaz! I literally had a panic attack the night before. Nobody believed me though cuz I am typically a camera whore and love taking pictures...but for some reason the e-pics were SOOO different. I havent seen them yet so I'm still very nervous about the turn out.
I wish I would've taken a few shots though cuz I was REALLY uptight.
My advice to you OP is to dont bring any tag alongs, I made that mistake and I brought the wrong person who really made me feel even WORSE about myself than I already did. So if you bring anybody else along with you make sure it is a really positive friend who is honest but aware of your feelings.
Also try to have as many natural moments as possible. My photog was very technical so alot of the time was spent on him finding the right lighting and us having to pose in order for him to get that perfect shot....so dont be afraid to laugh and touch your honey so the photog will be able to get some shots that arent so "pose-y"
@HisWifey2012:Good points about being natural! The only problem is, I absolutely HATE my profile and am scared of what pictures of me in profile may look like. I also have a self-proclaimed gross looking laughing/smile face (mostly I think it really unflatters my nose and neck). Ugh, i'm probably going to be a spaz as well.
@akp0702: Have you thought about practicing?? Like get your FI to take pictures of you smiling and laughing and try to find something that works and be conscious of it during your e-pics...it seems kinda weird...but Tyra Banks tell her models on America's Next Top Model to practice all the time...so if it works for them...why not right? Lol!

We're headed to the beach with our photographers tomorrow for our e-pics. I'm nervous because I really don't feel comfortable having my picture taken. I take notoriously bad picutres and am really critical about how I look. It doesn't help that I'm a little on the uncomfortable side with my body right now...I am worried that my self-conciousness is going to show up in the photos. I'm trying to relax but I'm fixated on how nervous I am!!
What tips can you provide about how to feel confident in your e-pics? Were any of you nervous?
Also, I'm looking for a good recommendation for some type of spanx/shapewear. I feel like wearing somethign that will make me feel like everything in the midsection is sort of smoothed out will help me feel prettier!
