Has he been sick recently? Is he having any other symptoms (yellowing of the skin, abdominal pain, on any medications)? If he is acting like himself I would wait and call first thing in the morning. There isn’t much they would do for him in the ER unless he is having symptoms.

Sorry, I don’t have any advice, but I hope they diagnose it quickly! I know that “not knowing” is one of the hardest things to deal with when your LO is not doing well 🙁

@hisgoosiegirl:  I should have known better than to click on that!

I agree on calling someone right away to do some more assessment.

I’ve read that white poop could mean that there is a liver* issue. Is he eating normally? sleeping? urinating normally? If you have access to a 24 hour hotline or something, i would call and ask. If not, I would go to the ER.

@aliavenue:  I think, if everything else seems normal, I would just call his doctor first thing in the morning and tell them you need to be seen right away. If not, I would definitely go to the ER and have him checked out.

I hope he gets better soon!!

@aliavenue:  Why not call a doc at ER and ask if they think you should go, or if you can feasibly wait til morning for an urgent care walk-in doctor? There’s no harm in picking up the phone, especially if it will ease your mind.

as his momma, you probably know best if he’s acting abnormal or not, but if it is his liver, that could be pretty serious. Your liver does a lot of important stuff! If it were me, I’d probably at least call. At worst, they think you’re a bit of a worrier mom and tell you to come in tomorrow.

Please let us know how he’s doing – hope it’s just a scare!

PS: Also, next time he goes and it’s white, put a sample in a baggie and stick it in the fridge. They can do a fecal analysis, and probably will ask for a sample.

It could easily be just a virus, Hun. Please don’t panic! Act quickly, just in case. But these things are rarely ever as bad as Google makes us believe. There are many things that could cause this. Monitor him and try to relax. He’ll likely be seen and released in no time.
