I've heard raving reviews about netbride, but have never heard anyone say anything negative about them.  Anyone have a negative experience?  Are they based out of a real B&M store?  I got quoted great prices for the bridesmaids, but I need a little reassurance that ordering from there is going to be a good decision.  netbride...any negative experiences? : wedding Icon Wink

You want reassurance from hearing about negative experiences?   I think there's a reason you're hearing all good feedback.  I only have good things to say about them.

I ordered 3 bridesmaids dresses through them and they all came nearly a month early. The customer service was excellent and the prices were about 40% less than through other stores.

If you're not used to ordering online, just make sure you measure well and call Netbride with any questions you have before you order.  I think you will have a great experience!

Yup, I had a great experience too - my girls love their dresses and needed only minor alterations (they got 4 different Bari Jay below-the-knee/tea length styles). Netbride even paid to ship them again when UPS screwed something up, because I wasn't getting anywhere with the UPS customer service! My MOH took care of all the ordering, but I dealt with the UPS mess. The Netbride people could not have been nicer or more apologetic about something that I assured them was completely not their fault!

According to an email I got from them with a price quote (we are using them again for my MOH's wedding), they do have a brick-and-mortar store:

"Netbride.com will meet  ANYONE'S prices, policies and special offers.  There is no sales tax on our gowns, this is probably an additional savings for you.  See the sections below called 'Who We Are', 'Testimonials', and 'Our Guarantee'.  We are a brick and mortar store and family owned.  We've been in business since 1948, on the internet since 1995, and we are a member of the Better Business Bureau.  You'll find our customer service is fast, friendly and professional. Netbride… a name you can trust.

"Our quotes are valid for as long as the factory continues the style, and as long as there is no factory price increase. Netbride.com is very proud of its service and reputation.  We have been on the internet since 1995.  Our bridal shop has been in business since--brace yourself - 1948!  Our dresses are all originals and all come only via authorized dealers."

I've heard very mixed things about House of Brides but never a negative word about Netbride. I know it seems almost too good to be true, and it's good to be cautious, but I really think they are an honest-to-goodness great business.

I had great experience ordering from netbrides - my bm dresses and flower girl dress came in a month and half early!!  And I had my dresses shipped to 5 different places all around the country!

No complaints - customer service was A+++.

    Maude~

It's not that I want reassurance thru negative feedback, I just want it via "No, I haven't had any bad experiences either" type comments.  :)  I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something, since I only casually sift thru these boards here and there.

Thanks for your words of wisdom.  We're gonna do it, I decided.  What the girls will save will cover alterations and have money left over for lunch, too.  :)  Just means I gotta find a flowergirl dress, so I can order that while we're at it.

House of Brides told me that they sell "replica" dresses. They look just like the real ones but are not in fact from Dessy/After Six/Aldred Sung etc. Private Message me for my thoughts on Netbride. I believe that they sell authentic dresses, however, they're exchange/return policy is very sticky so you can't afford to make a mistake when ordering from them. Also, when ordering from Canada beware of companies that use UPS, as they charge very high brokerage fees ($100, plus duty and taxes cost me an extra $178.00 on my order). If you can have them shipped to a US border town or by USPS.

@koalap: I'm thinking about purchasing my bridesmaid dresses from Netbride, and I've been in contact with Norah at Netbride, who's been addressing my concerns about ordering from them.  I am in Canada too (Toronto), so I have concerns about duty and taxes and all that also.  I'm super-nervous about ordering online, but they seem really good!

With regard to the issues you've brought up:

    - They guarantee that their dresses are directly from the designer.  I'm pretty sure that House of Brides could get in serious trouble if they're spreading rumours about the competition (especially competition that gets better reviews universally than they do!).  I've mostly been at The Knot's forums (just got here today), and their reviews there are amazing, especially compared to House of Brides which are far less positive.

    - At their website, Netbride specifically states that they pay for brokerage fees.  If you were charged for brokerage fees, maybe you could check with Netbride to see what happened?  They seem to respond really quickly and helpfully to questions (and that's not just my experience, but what I've read from other people too) so I think you should send them a message. :)

    - If you aren't happy with your order, you should contact them.  The thing is, though, if you ordered the wrong size or decided you don't like the colour or style or something, what are they supposed to do about it?  All of these stores whether they're an actual shop that you visit or online don't generally do off-the-rack dresses: they're having those dresses made specifically for you.  If they make a mistake, then they should fix it.  But if you made a mistake in ordering or changed your mind or something...well, that's your mistake, right?
