We just purchased a condo with new appliances – fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer.
Do we have to do a “trial run” before using?
SO said the oven might “smell funny” if we try to use it the first time.

We just bought a new place with new applicances too. I did turn on the oven for about half an hour before I acutally used it. It did have a burning plastic smell. Other than that just started using them all. NO problems.

Let the oven run for a good 20 minutes before using; there are going to be some manufacturing residues that need to “burn off.” Don’t forget to vent and open your windows!
I usually toss a box of baking soda into the fridge; we just swapped out our stove, fridge and dishwasher this year!
I ran the dishwasher once on an empty cycle before using our dishes in there.
