@ThyLadyThompson:  I think they’re trying to up their game.  There are a lot of higher end styles (with a lower price point) at the store now.  I have been in several times in the last few weeks and the dresses on the mannequins/judy’s have certainly gotten a lot more expensive looking.

I have an appointment on Thursday to go try on!

These would be great, last time i was in i noticed the ones i loved never came above a size 12 which made me (size 18-20) extremely frustrated.

I like the Melissa Sweet line again, but that’s about it. I’m not super-crazy about DB’s dresses.

Some I like, some I hate. But it doesn’t surprise me because the ones I like are from the designers who I’ve seen other things I like from, and vice versa with the ones I don’t like. It definitely does seem like David’s is trying to up their game a little, try to compete with some shops and designers that are considered more top of the line and have trendier dress styles, more up to the minute fashions.

I went to David’s bridal before and was not that impressed until I put on some of the White by Vera Wang dresses. The material and construction was on the cheaper side but the design was really beautiful.

I like the Melissa Sweet ones–but I didn’t see any others that looked special.

I honestly don’t like David’s Bridal. Many of the fabrics they use feel cheap, and from what I’ve seen, the construction isn’t as good as other bridal designers. Plus, I hate the experience of shopping there. Perhaps it’s the three in our area, but they are NOT very nice environments to shop for a wedding gown or bridesmaids dresses in. The sales girls could care less, and the stores themselves are disorganized messes.

After going there with my friends who are also getting married (who DIDN’T find their dresses there btw), I vowed not to shop there for my own dress.

I know many brides go there thinking it’s the only budget option–it isn’t. There are many other designers out there in the same price range that have far nicer gowns. My Maggie Sottero gown is in the same price range as many of those new David’s Bridal gowns, but the detail and construction is SO MUCH nicer. My dress looks like it costs TWICE what I paid for it. My mom even thought that with all the beaded lace, it would be totally out of budget. When she heard how much it cost, her jaw hit the floor and she immediately pulled out her credit card. It was UNDER our budget…by $700. After tax.

That said, I LOVE what Zac Posen said about wanting to dress curvy women and give everyone a magic red carpet moment on her wedding day. That was very nice to hear him say! I’m curious to see what he came up with.

I like the Melissa Sweet ones. I cannot stand the Vera Wang ones, they look like runway dresses nothing I would ever want for a wedding. I know some people like them but def not my style.

Some are too high fashion for me but for the most part I like them. I actually bought my dress from David’s and maybe it’s because I live in a small town but the experience certainly compared to what I had else where. To be honest, most of the dresses I didn’t like, they looked like pretty much every other wedding dress I had seen and some materials felt cheap. I’m happy with my dress and it compares to some of the dresses I tried on at higher-end bridal shops, I just had to try on about 10 dresses to find it.

my dress is a new one from David’s Bridal! I was actually the first person to buy the dress according to their headquarters, the first salon to receive the sample got it in the morning I went dress shopping! It’s the new one-shouldered galina signature with the tulle bottom/tulle shoulder in the champagne/blush color! I LOVE it!

I tried a bunch of them on. They were ok, I did like one Melissa Sweet, but in pictures it is not as flattering as I remember in person

I’m “meh” about these ones, but I’m super excited about the Zac Posen line. His interviews and the sneak peaks have been great (and I love him on Project Runway!).
