Hey Bees! After 6 years together (and about 6 months picking out a ring with the help of the Bee!), we are finally official! We chose the ring together and got it custom made, simple as it is it is JUST RIGHT. Clawed prongs, the most subtle taper, platinum but not overpriced (hah), and smooth lines. I wanted a ring that was smooth and comfortable and would go well with a band (or 3 lol). With the stone we got, I felt like much more bling drama was taking away from the stone and from it being ‘me’.
As far as the proposal goes, it wasn’t a suprise but when it happened I was still as floored as anyone describes! It was def a blur! He cooked us an elaborate dinner where each course represented a place and time together…the 5 weeks we spent in Jamaica together when we first met…the year and a half we lived in Oregon.. the place where we met in NY… etc. It was so sweet and delicious, I def cried my face off haha. He got down on a knee during dessert which felt natural because I was sitting, said some stuff I don’t remember lol, and popped the ring box open. I got to see the ring for the first time, except it just looked like a blur of light bc of the tears! haha! We both felt like it was surreal! We’re not the social media type so we’re slowly telling our family friends etc which has been fun as the excitement keeps trickling along as we see people and get to tell them.
And now..the ring!! 1.5 carat round brilliant amora moissanite, 2.5mm very subtle tapering to 1.8mm band, cathedral, basket set, clawed prongs, platinum. I keep trying to get a good pic but it’s been impossible so far! None of the pics below look like it looks to me most of the time haha which is very very bright shiny/sparkly white for both the stone and band. Up close the stone is full of rainbows and in different lights the sparkle is out of control. The metal has the luxurious feel you hear about platinum which I was pleasantly surprised by and it shines super bright white, I don’t find it be grey-ish at all. The stone never looks dark like the big pic on the right, maybe becaus I was wearing a dark grey coat when I took the pic, but that one does show the prongs well. Enjoy! 🙂 I’m sure there’s more to come haha.
Thanks to all the bees that gave me so many opinions along the way!! Just wait til I try to chose a hippie-ish band to go along with it, or a stacking bands! lol. My SO and I are official, and I am now bee official! hahaha
