After a little over a year of marriage and 2 years since we became engaged I am finally happy with my rings! It wasn’t that I was ‘unhappy’, but they weren’t what I wanted. And I picked everything myself, so there were no hurt feelings involved.
I chose something so completely un-me when we got engaged because I wanted it to be different than the rings I wore during my first marriage, and it seemed silly to buy almost the same exact ring twice. This was a bad idea, because no matter what happens you love what you love and nothing else will ever compare. For me, it was princess cuts. I find just about any stone beautiful, but princess cuts are my ideal dream shape. As for a wedding band, I love plain metal bands and that’s what I got. I also loved this one diamond band I’d seen like 5 years ago (before I’d ever met DH), for reasons I couldn’t explain. I’d seen it once and that was it…but it was no where to be found when I was shopping so that made the decision easy. I figured that if I wanted more bling, I could add a thin eternity band someday and that would be that.
For our first anniversary, I got my princess cut engagement ring and I haven’t looked at my halo since! It’s perfection, it’s kind of plain compared to the halo but I just adore it. Just before my birthday, I found that diamond band I’d always wanted and just about screamed with joy (I found it quite by mistake), and today I have them both on my finger 🙂 Unfortunately, both of my wedding bands are currently a size too large (7) and my engagement ring is a size too small (5) so they don’t *look* perfect yet, but I know that once I’m willing to give them up for a few weeks they will!
My engagement ring I’ve shared a few times, but I’ll share again. It’s 5/8 ct total, the center is 1/4 (I don’t know any more specs as it’s from a chain jeweler), in white gold. It’s all natural diamonds, although I would have been just as happy with Moissy or Asha…this just happened to work out to be cheaper.
My new wedding/anniversary/whatever you want to call it band is 1/4 ct total with alternating baguette and round diamonds, also in white gold.
My original wedding band is palladium.

Thanks ladies!!! 🙂
@MsMeow: I think they’re so gorgeous, and they get such bad raps around here haha. Nice to see another princess fan 🙂

@MerryWidow: Bad rap, really? I must admit I never noticed – maybe I’m such a die hard fan it made me blind! lol

Ooh! So pretty, they look great together and I just love the new band!

@MsMeow: Haha yes, there was a thread not too long asking what least favorite shapes are and princess was one of the least liked shapes! Which is funny because I swear IRL I see them all over. And just like when you buy a car, once you have one you notice them more!

Beautiful! Glad to hear you finally found what you were looking for 🙂

I’m not a huge fan of princess cuts as plain solitaires, but I think they look great in certain settings, like yours! I like how the center of the band is almost as wide as the stone; to me that gives it a nice and balanced look. Overall a very attractive and well-put together set. Glad you got what you really wanted!

@MerryWidow: Hahaha! I totally agree about the car thing! But nobody I know in RL owns a princess cut diamond. All you ever see in my part of Europe are round brilliants. We’re stuck in diamond dark ages :p

I don’t know about the whole Princess thing… I am an Oldtimer, and I’d have to say that Princess cut is the second most popular shape there is after Rounds. As been this way my whole lifetime.
I have some princess cut Diamond Earrings. And I love them.
And when we were were looking at ERings, the first ring I saw and was interested in was a Princess Cut Quad in an invisible setting, mounted on a Diagonal. It was a Beautiful Ring… but ultimately not to be THE ONE
Love all the pics, and how much fun you seem to be taking in having joined the “3 Ring Club”… it is fabulous having rings you love to stack & wear so many different ways
Here are a few Photos of mine (Ering & 2 WBands)… in different combos:

PHOTO 2 – Two WBands alone

Hope this helps,

Congrats! I’m happy for you that you now have your dream set!
I don’t think they look bad together or off-sized in the pictures, though – your set looks really nice! If they’re fitting comfortably when worn together I’d say leave them the size they are. If they’re all size 6 they might feel a little bit tight all stacked together. Maybe not, though! I have ring claustrophobia though and like to buy them about a 1/4 size larger than my actual size, so I’m biased. 🙂

@MerryWidow: I have that same baguette-and-round band! man, if I had known you were looking for it, I could have told you where to find one!
mine came from Ben Bridge. where did you find yours?

@nerdybird: I actually found it on eBay after searching EVERYWHERE, both in person and online. I found some that were similar, but not quite right. I absolutely LOVE IT, and maybe someday I’ll find another one for the other side 🙂
@starla: Haha I’ve actually thought about the sizing issue…I’m torn. The new diamond band spins and drives me CRAZY, so that’s going to have to go down. And my engagement ring is still a size too small so that’ll drive me crazy too (it turns my finger red if it’s too warm out, I had to wear a stand in last week on vacation). I guess time will tell! I’m a little worried about the baguettes and sizing…sometimes they fall out after being sized and then I would cry 🙁
