That's an awesome idea! We gave my in-laws a tree for their thank you gift as well! We just put a tarp over it and gave them strict instructions not to look under the tarp until we told them to, maybe you can do something similar?
That's a great idea! Will the tree survive in KY weather though? I would be worried that it would get too cold and it would die.
The parents are in Texas, so it should be perfect weather for citrus. (:
LOVE this idea! Wish I lived somewhere a lemon tree would survive! (The artic winters in Wisconsin tend to kill awesome things like lemon trees.)

Last summer, my parents went to Italy for three weeks and had an AMAZING time. They were celebrating 35 years of marriage and came back a totally different and more in love couple than before. I couldn't think of what to get my mom for her gift and then I found it...
A Lemon Tree!
My mom loves to cook and after getting back from Italy my mom couldn't stop talking about all the lemons there! Plus she's always looking for plants to put in their tropical backyard. I think it's going to be the perfect gift, I'm just not sure how to hide it from her until the rehearsal dinner. (:
