I’ve lived here 3 years and whenever I’m by myself I think every sound is a murderer. I will lock all the doors twice, including my bed room door and will put my gun out. BUT, I also only watch murder shows so that plays a role haha

ment.to.be2013:  Oh man, when we first moved in I thought for sure someone was trying to break in one night. So then we bought a wooden dowel to put on the floor so the door couldn’t be opened, but looking back it seemed so silly. I’m sure hubby only went along with it because I was freaked. I do NOT watch any scary true life murder shows just before bed, though. You’ll get used to all the “normal” sounds, promise!

This is so funny! DH and I are closing on our first house next month and I already know I’ll be terrified to be alone in the house! Sometimes DH leaves for work before me and when I’m in the shower, I peek out of the shower curtain periodically, thinking every little noise in our apartment is an intruder. It should be very interesting once there’s a whole house full of noises! And I also love those suspense/crime drama shows, so that doesn’t help. Just wanted to say I sympathize 😉

ment.to.be2013:  I’ve never watched those! My tv stays on investigation discovery or espn haha

ment.to.be2013:  I bought my house when I was 19 and lived alone, so lord knows I freaked out about every creak & squeak I heard! I could never stand to just sit back and wonder, though, so pretty quickly after spending time investigating every noise, I was able to identify the sounds (furnace kicking on, hot water heater, wind rattling windows, etc) and eventually stopped noticing them altogether.
