We just adopted a new kitty, but she doesn't have a name :(

Right now we're referring to her as "McNoTail," because she's a manx, (manx don't have tails).

New Kitty! : wedding kitty name manx Mcnotail

New Kitty! : wedding kitty name manx Mcnotail2

Any name suggestions? She can't be McNoTail forever!

What a pretty kitty!! I actually like McNoTail...it's unique and funny! I'd probably end up calling him Mac.

Beautiful cat!  Our cat is named Ella but we call her Longtail.  My husband's cat that lives with his parents is called Speckles (Knobtail) because she is a Manx too!

@baldor1: I suggested Mickey, because I'm just so used to calling her McNoTail, or Mac, but it didn't get a good response.

@MissAsB: Good to know I'm not the only one! I was feeling a little guilty not calling her a real name yet.

@tall_jenny: Too many Charmed episodes ( I was obsessed)

@Scottielass: Haha! that actually made me laugh out loud :)

@amandagrace731: She's a ferocious eater, we call that picture "WTF, I am EATING" (okay, I just now made that up)

how about Tally or Mica or Meeko or Menota (short for mcnotail ;)

It took me over 2 weeks to name my kittens. At the vet, they were kitten 1 & kitten 2. So don't feel bad, a few days isn't so long without a "real name".

Gorgeous! Mccutie, cause she's so cute.

    Random names:

Pretzel, Pumpkin, Desert(due to her color and I thought of this cause I live in the desert..I just thought of that due to that orange in her coat), Sage, Pringle, Butter Bean, India, Pop Tart, Golden Graham(as I am snacking on those right now), Honey or you could say it in french, which is Miel(MEE-UL or MEE-EL), Bonbon, Snickers, Twix..that was the result of my quick brainstorm or fart maybe..good luck! She's cute!

@serabell: I'm glad I'm not the only one that has name indecision! No one else ever takes as long as I do to name pets.

@kalliela: I (my mom) has a cat named Pumpkin! I took it upon myself to name her when my mom started calling her Marmalade. Before we went to the shelter I said I wanted to name a cat Bean, but I was outvoted. I can see you were thinking about food, haha :) Thanks for all the suggestions.

The vet was glad I named them cause I had 2 kittens & they didn't want to mix them up! Hows your kitty's name coming along?

Mcnata, Macy, Marlyn, Marbles, Molly, Maize, Mcnotail (maybe some type of accent to it?) Mcnotia

@serabell: The naming is hard. She seems too austere for cutesy kitty names like Fluffy and Princess, and she has a "brother" (my dog) named Pally (short for Paladin Took). Some days I want them to have matching names, both start with P or another LOTR character or just anything that has something to do with Paladin, but then I'm like "screw it, this will never work."

@CorgiTales: Haha, she's very serious about her food, and she has a mouth full of it. I think she has shelter/homeless related food loss anxiety.

Marmalade..love that name, love marmalade. I love love love orange marmalade. Oh ya..this isn't the food thread hehehe. I also heard of someone naming their cat Cheese. Cute. Or Cheez-It maybe? Ya,.this isn't food thread, I forgot, again! I took care of a kitty once and named her Sprinkles for her coat. My neighbor had tons of cats..Idk how she named all of them. Some of the cats names were:

Pepsi, Tiger, Beautiful, Coors, Richard, Arthur, Jezabell, Blackie, Mouser, Tuko, Hun-Bun, Lucky, Shadow, Rolo and Clarence. Yep, neighborhood cat lady! She had a large house and all of the bedrooms were cat rooms.

    LOTR? how about:

Merry - A mischievous and courageous hobbit. Like Pippin, his best friend, Merry is a rabble-rouser and troublemaker. However, he proves himself to be a fearless fighter at the great battle of Minas Tirith, when he helps Éowyn slay the witch-king.

or maybe one of these names:

Paladin Took II was the thirty-first Thain of the Shire and brother of Esmeralda (Took) Brandybuck.

He married Eglantine Banks, and had four children: Pearl Took, Pimpernel Took, Pervinca Took, and Peregrin Took. Peregrin, or Pippin, was the only boy and after his father's death

@kalliela: That is definitely a crazy cat lady. My allergies would go crazy in that house!

@serabell: I considered Esmeralda, but I didn't want to end up calling her Esme (of Twilight fame). I like Eglantine and Pimpernel, but I don't want her to end up being called a shorter version (i.e. Pimp). I think I may be putting too much thought into this.

We've been considering: Louise (Weezy, because she's so sneezy), Addy, and Eowyn (Wynnie). I love love love Eowyn, but McNoTail seems so serious, and Wynnie is kind of whimsical.

I love that first picture of her! Made me laugh.

Before I even read about her brother's name, I was thinking LOTR as well! Specifically Eowyn, though I don't know why.

From wiki: "In the Old English language (the language Tolkien used to represent Rohirric) the word eoh (or eh) means "war-horse, charger"[7] while wyn means "delight, pleasure"[8] (in addition, some sample text within Bosworth and Toller translates wyn as "joy, joyous"). Therefore, even though no such word appears in the lexicon of Old English, the name Éowyn can be taken to mean "delightful charger"."

Does she exhibit any horse-loving traits? :)

@cliffette: I don't think she's ever met a horse, haha. But she seems to like other animals, so she might like them. Maybe someday we can go on a horse-meeting trip.

    She's delightful, though!

Totally off topic, but there is a cat on petfinder that looks exactly like mine, except she has a tail. She's at the same shelter I adopted mine from, maybe they're sisters?

I so want to get another kitty! I am in the "kitties need friends" camp, especially since I'm gone to class all day. I just don't know if it would be fair to have both of them in a tiny apartment. Also, I'm a starving college student, so I would hate to spend the money to get another cat and then have an emergency with the other one or my dog and not be able to pay the vet because I used all the money in the "pet fund."

They do get along, that's the reason we adopted this particular cat. She was the only cat at the shelter who liked Pally and us. But Pally lives at home (the 10 barking dogs that live around my apartment scare him to death), and kitty lives in my apartment. It's in the same town, so I see Pally all the time, but kitty and Pally don't see much of each other.

McNoTail has a name! We've decided to call her Pimpernel, Piper for short (since we weren't feeling Pimper).

@serabell:Yes! Now I can make her a vet appointment without the embarrassment of them thinking I actually named her McNoTail (which is her new last name, in case she ever needs one). I've still been calling her "kitty" and McNoTail, but she will actually respond to Piper, so that's helpful.
