We’ve picked the park for pictures in September. I’ve been there a few times for a few races, but I haven’t seen all of it.
I know there is the quaint little stone bridge. Is there another bridge with higher railings?
Also, is there a grassy area with weeds/wildflowers – looks almost like a meadow?
We live a few states over and won’t be able to make it there until the day of the pictures.

I’m not sure, but just note that you need to get a permit in order to shoot in City Park. If you get caught, they will fine you.

@louisianablue: ok, thanks for the heads up!

I know that anything that deals with New Orleans Museum of Art is separate than City Park, so the permit would not cover NOMA, I’m not sure how picky they are about that, but that’s what I’ve heard.
Are you using a photographer from Nola? If so he/she should be very familiar with places to shoot in City Park. It’s definitely big, so having a few places in mind will be good.
City Park is pretty popular for pictures, so search some local photographers websites for pictures to get ideas.
Off the top of my head, the Peristyle, Popp Bandstand, wrought iron gates around the botanical gardens, and the Morning Call coffee stand. there’s a sculpture garden too, I think you’re good to go in there and take pictures. And of course all of the beautiful oak trees and flowers to take pictures with.

@spotted_giraffe: Thanks – I guess the carousel probably falls into the museum part. I’ll have to call them. I sent an email last month, but no response.
I am using a photographer from NOLA and she regularly takes pictures there. I’ll get with her about locations and the permits.

@jules09: The carousel is the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. You will probably need to pay for admission to the amusement park section, and pay for the ride, but I’m sure you can get some awesome pictures with that!
