@stephiepthebee:  Commander’s Palace is iconic and is wonderful food! it has a fantastic atmosphere, and the bread pudding is to DIE for.

I don’t think you can go wrong ANYWHERE in NOLA, though! Love, love, love that city and its food!

@donna_saur:  I loooooove New Oreans! So very much. Do you live there? I have only visited a few times but it is by far my favorite city in the States. Love it!!!

@engagedsagebrush:  No, but I am from Louisiana!  Been to NO many times!  And the Palace is definitely iconic.  There are so many options available for something like this, but if OP is looking for something recognizable, that’s it.  There are always up-and-coming places that are great and holes-in-the-wall (my fave!!!) – it’s so hard w/ NO because there are so many options for food!

@stephiepthebee:  The Irish House has a nice upstairs room that you could use.  It’s casual but nice and good food.

@stephiepthebee:  Muriel’s in Jackson Square would be a great place.  Can walk to French Quarter after…  They have good food too, so it’s a plus.  Locals love it too 🙂  http://www.muriels.com/

Two Sisters, Pat O’s, Oceana Grill, Broussard’s, … pretty much anywhere you like will have a private room. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

Commanders Palace definitely came to mind first. Then there is Galatoire’s, which is very good and a popular place. The Court of Two Sisters is a court yard restaurant in the quarter with delicious food. Antoine’s is also a place with a lot of history and charm/ good food. Good luck! And I agree with Oceana. LOVE their banana’s foster icecream cake!

I see most of the best ones have been covered. I second Murial’s, Galatoire’s, and Commander’s Palace. Also, Pat O’s has an upstairs section that you can rent (but it isn’t handicapp accessible).
