Possibly a dumb question but I was just married last weekend (yay!) & I know I have to get all new documents to reflect the name change when we get the marriage cert back in the mail, blah blah, but do you also get a new social security NUMBER when you change your name?
That would be aggravating since the last 4 digits of your SSN are often security questions for all kinds of other things in life.

No your SS is yours for life.

Nope – that number is yours for the rest of your life. They will issue you a new card with the same number, different name. Congrats!

k8: Just a name change 🙂
That would be a bitch, can you imagine? memorizing a new number…then what about those people who get divorced and remarried again and again. They’d never know their number! Lol
