My fiancé comes with an awesome bonus….he is already Dad to a special little lady who will soon be my stepdaughter. I couldnt be more excited to be a family with them. I really want to incorporate her in the ceremony either with an activity or with some special vows for us all to take. Has anyone seen any children incorporated into a ceremony or have any ideas? We are doing a wine toast instead of sand or unity candle……I am looking for something unique to do or say. She will be 5 when we get married and she and I get along great. I want to make this day just as special for her. Please ALL ideas welcome!!

@gymchick2: We gave our girls silver lockets. We were going to do it during the ceremony, but my youngest was sick so we did it at rehersal the night before. We were just going to say a little blurb about it signifying us coming together as a family. Both of my girls loved have a little locket with their name on it.

I was in my dad and stepmom’s wedding! I stood up there with them and there was a little part where they asked me if I would accept my stepmom as part of my family, and I said, “I will.” It was super adorable, and I still remember it nearly twenty years later!! I was 9.

@gymchick2: There was one where right before the ring swap, the parents each give the child half of a heart necklace!

I’ve seen dad’s give their new step daughters a gold band. I think you should give your step daughter a special piece of jewelry. PP suggested a necklace.

I LOVE the idea of you getting her a piece of jewelry to make you all a family.
My daughter will be 4 when we get married, and I want my fiance to do something like this for her (although she already calls him daddy cuz he’s been around since she was one and a half.)
