New to preseed. Any advice?

I used Preseed while I was TTC along with Softcups and I am now 25 weeks preggers.  Let me tell you about the Preseed:  Unless you want a goppy, slushy, squishy mess on your hands, do not use the entire recommended amount.  Just use what feels comfortable for you.  I know the package says to use the full amount – but I found it to be FAR too much.  I would also highly recommend that you make sure to INSERT it the way the directions tell you to.  Some women were only using it as an external lubricant and to be honest I feel that defeats the purpose.  The purpose of Preseed is to balance your PH while giving the “swimmers” an environment that is condusive to swimming – an alternative to fertile CM for those who do not produce much of it.  So using it externally only seems pointless IN MY OPINION.  I would also HIGHLY recommend that you insert it 15 minutes prior to intercourse just like it says in the instructions.  You want to give the Preseed time to balance your PH before the swimmers are introduced if that makes sense 😉

I hope this is helpful.  I am 39 years old and I had been TTC for 5 months before I started the Preseed and softcup routine.  I got my BFP on my 8th month and am now expecting a beautiful little baby boy 🙂

Mrgrz07:  I think just use it in anyway you feel comfortable. We just used it like a normal lube. I would have continued using normal lube while TTC but I read that although they are not all spermicidal, they may have a pH balance which could harmful to sperm or make it harder for them to do their job. I don’t think it’s necessary to insert it inside at all. but then I don’t think there is any conclusive research on its efficacy at all so we’re all just stabbing in the dark in a way. For what it’s worth we used it both cycle one and two I think, and we conceived on cycle 2. And I’m now 28w2d. I think the whole applicator idea is just a marketing ploy to get you to use more of it. and the tubes are so small as it is, i tried to ration our use cos it’s kinda expensive!!

We used as normal lube for TTC#1 and 2 and got pregnant right away with both. I don’t know if it was all the preseed’s doing but it certainly didn’t hurt.

We use it like normal lube, I too have read about normal lube being rough on the swimmers. We also use Conceive Plus…we just use either depending on what we are doing. Conceive plus is much more watery and dries up faster, but DH likes is better so we often use some right before we start BD, esp if it’s a quickie ; ) Preseed is great for using during a longer warm up and then we just use it for the main event too.

I have no problems with CM on the inside, just nice to have a little something to help with comfort. We throw the applicators away every month as DH makes jokes about turkey basters. I use PreSeed/Conceive Plus exclusively until O is confirmed, then we switch back to regular lube cause we both like the feel of that better. Preseed is much gooier. I buy a tube of each on amazon once a month when AF starts and using Prime it arrives on plenty of time.

I used it both as just a normal lube, and closer to my ovulation date I used the applicators a couple times.  I think if lack of CM is your concern, definitely use the applicators.  Like a PP said, you don’t need to use the full amount (that’s just a ton), but inserting some inside gives the swimmers that extra help they need if you aren’t producing enough fertile CM on your own.  It also works great as a normal lube, though – we thought it just felt more natural (not sticky like some other lubes can), and we actually still use it sometimes.  No way to know if the Preseed helped, but we got pregnant our first month trying using it internally with the applicators (11 weeks along now).

It’s similar to pre-seed in that it’s made for TTC, whereas other regular lubes can impair sperm motility. We like having both options. The conceive plus is very watery and not super gelly/sticky but it dries up very quickly, so it’s great for “we’re about to start” versus Pre-seed for a more relaxed “warm-up”
