Iheartmyairman:  Welcome to the Bee! I don’t think you’re backwards at all! Technically, you are engaged. Both of you are planning a wedding and getting married, so that equals engagement.

I am in this boat with you, girl. Long story short, my FI and I got engaged at 18, my parents wouldn’t have it, so even though we called ourselves engaged, my family didn’t even know. 3 years later, he’s going to get their blessing soon and give me an official ring and everything so the wedding planning can start.

Don’t worry about your boyfriend getting their permission, since your family/parents are so supportive, I’m sure they’ll say yes! As for a ring, I don’t know what your budget is like, but there are thousands of options for you, and you can either pick one out together like my FI and I did, or you can give him ideas of what you like and have him select it for you. No matter what, everything will work out. Just know, that your future, your wedding, and all the planning is very real. 🙂

That’s awesome that you picked a date and venue! Since it would be an evening wedding and most people will probably head to your wedding after work, I would think a nice sit down dinner would be nice since most of your guests probably won’t have the chance to eat a full meal before your ceremony. It doesn’t have to be overly formal either, you could select a buffet option so guests can eat as little or as much as they want, and maybe even take some home with them!

Just relax and enjoy your wedding planning. Everything will fall into place! Let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

I’d opt for the sit down dinner for the same reason as the PP- people won’t have time to eat before the ceremony. I think 530 is a reasonable ceremony time. Congrats, happy planning and welcome!
