Long time lurker, first time poster! I’ve been on weddingbee for a little while now, trying to contain myself while waiting for a proposal! Now that it’s finally happened, I decided to share. You guys seem like a great community and I’d love to join in!
My fiance and I have been living and working in Canada for 2 years (originally from Australia), and have finally decided to move back home. We are currently on holiday in Mexico to have some fun before going back to the ‘real world’. This morning he got me up early to watch the sunrise over the water (dead giveaway, considering we are both not morning people!)
He took me to a gazebo on the beach and as we watched the sunrise he said some sweet things, then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I found myself saying “umm… Well, this is awkward…” (something we always say to each other as a joke) then immediately followed with a “yes of course!” I was kind of in shock – even though I knew it was going to happen, it’s still surreal when it actually does?! Plus I am slightly uncomfortable with serious stuff like that! Lucky he is as silly as me so it was all in good fun.
Anyway, I am ecstatic and have been walking around with a silly smile on my face all day. The ring is beautiful – I picked it out myself but had NO IDEA I would end up with it, because it was a little out of what I thought our budget was. He said he loved it also cos it was beautiful and unique, and since it was my favourite he obviously had to get it! please excuse the swollen fingers – Im hoping its just due to the outrageous heat here and that when we get home it will fit a bit better! (Also sorry for the massive pic – don’t know how to resize on the ipad!)

Congratulations on your engagement!! your ring is absolutely gorgeous.
I can tell you it is freezing here in Australia right now, so your finger will definitely shrink back down to it’s normal size

LeChatN0ir: Congratulations and beautiful ring! My DH also proposed in a warm climate. My ring actually fit perfectly and then my finger shrank when I returned home! We got it resized before making the band to go with it and now it’s perfect again. 🙂

thank you all for your kind words! I can’t tell you how relieved I am to hear that some of you had the same thing happen and fingers shrink back down, cos at the moment it’s so uncomfortable. Also maybe it’s that I’m not used to it? Feels like the pave section might be irritating my other fingers. Is this normal?? (Such a newbie – I never wear jewellery!)
Thanks again guys! I’m waiting until we get home in a week to tell my family, so it’s awesome to have people to share my excitement with!
