I’m new here, I’m 25 and got engaged this September to my amazing, selfless, and hilarious fiance. I couldn’t be happier. The engagement was really amazing, he had a plane tow a sign with the big question on it. I was so surprised!
He and I are planning a September 7th, 2013 wedding in a beautiful chapel in my hometown. Our celebration will be a little different from the norm since we’re funding the whole thing ourselves AND I have champagne taste. ; ) What a bad mix, right? Haha, actually we’ve decided to have an intimate ceremony and a small cake/wine reception afterwards then get on a plane and go on a honeymoon for two weeks. : ) I feel pretty good about spending the bulk of our budget on the honeymoon rather than the wedding, in our situation.
Here’s a picture of my ring. It’s a cushion cut stone (1.18 center) I love it. : )
Excited to get to know all you other bees!

Congratulations! And thank you! I love the idea of September! We’re planning for the weekend after Labor Day so that our two weeks in Hawaii will have quite a bit less vacationers (and families!) than normal!: ) Works out perfectly! Plus the weather here is gorgeous in September! Congratulations again!

Aww! Welcome and congratulations. Your idea for an intimate wedding and budgeting more for the honeymoon is what I imagine for myself and SO!

If it’s what you feel like you want, go for it! Big weddings are amazing, beautiful, and I seriously have SO much respect for brides able to plan such beautiful days – it’s just not for everyone! To be honest it has made this whole ordeal of planning so much easier on my fiancé and I! Mainly I’m not super tight with my family and he has a very small family so the idea of spending huge amounts of money on a party filled with a great number of people we HAVE to have there just didn’t appeal. With the money we’re saving from the smaller wedding, we can essentially do anything we want on our honeymoon. I’m so excited! It will be fun to see how your wedding planning pans out, too!

Congratulations, that’s a beautiful ring and I love the story of the plane with the will you marry me sign, I thought that only happened in the movies.
I think you’re being smart spending the money on a honeymoon, too.
