Hi @Sapphire-Dreamer:  welecome to “the Hive”

You might want to read Mr Bee’s “Waiting” topic… found at the top of the WAITING BOARD… great info there

I get the whole deadline thing too… (not the same as an Ultimatium)… but something that says “hey seriously it is time we did more than just talk about this”

Mr TTR and I had a similar discussion just before our 6th Anniversary.  He proposed after another 5 months, on an “unexpected” day… in a very quiet unassuming way.  Lol, made me wait thru Our Anniversary, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, Our Winter Vacation, Valentine’s Day, My Birthday, St Patrick’s Day and Easter…

In the end, it was a great proposal, and worth the wait.  Lol, as a typical guy, now that the “ring is on the finger” he wants to get married asap… so even tho we are doing an Elopement to a Destination Wedding on the Beach at Christmas (just the 2 of us), I am scrambling to work out the details (Dress, Flowers, Photographer, etc).

All he has to worry about is the Honeymoon… and he went the easy route on that one, and bought “a package” (lol, typical guy *rolls eyes*)

Welcome!!

Waiting has easily been the biggest hurdle in our relationship.  I too have been at the end of my rope for awhile.  I always feel that as embarrassing as it is, being honest is the best policy.  I have cried many times.  Just this last thursday i got upset and just left our house for the night to get my emotions in check.  He was upset too that he disappointed me again.  Honestly its not fair to have one person in the dark and confused and unhappy and the other ignorantly oblivious.

Vent here.  We’ll do our best to put things in perspective.  🙂

I’m a musician’s gf too so I know the whole money situation. I’m also waiting. Have you considered moissanite rings? If so, let him know that moissaniteco.com has a free layaway program that he can slowly make payments.. that’s what we’re doing. Good luck!!

Here’s what I did: I had been “following” some rings on there that I liked.. one of which went on sale. So, I sent him a cute email saying all the reasons I wanted a moissanite vs a diamond, a little education on it, and then a link to the ring & the layaway plan. I even said that most couples end up sharing the cost of the E-Ring because if a guy gets a $6,000 ring financed and then they get married, it because both of their bills.. what’s yours is mine! 😉

So, I said “Let’s both make some payments on it here and there and then once it’s mostly paid off, I’ll ask to be taken off the notification emails so I won’t know when you finish paying it off so I can be surprised!”

He LOVED the idea that I wanted something conflict free & that I wanted to start off our lives out of debt.. It took a few conversations of me reassuring him that I wasn’t “settling” for moissanite and that I’d want it regardless of our budget.

So, keep your chin up! Don’t get discouraged and come here for support. Some days, I feel down because I want it now but then I try to be happy/upbeat around him. The last thing I want to do is start giving him stress and second guessing because of my bad attitude. I try to focus my energy on reminding him daily that he’s going to have an amazing life with me! 😉
