- Wedding: June 2014
My parents are paying for 100% of our wedding… and happily doing so. My mom often talks about how she wants to wear just a new, elegant wedding band (without her engagement ring), but can’t afford to buy a new one… My dad loves his band, but is now talking about how much he loves all the new ones out there, especially now that my fiance is showing him all the options.
By no means can they afford a wedding, but they are doing it without even the slightest hesistation. Of course, I’m trying to sneakily pay off things (my dress, invitations, etc etc) but I want to maybe present them with new bands at the wedding.
They don’t have to be outrageously priced, but we’re considering putting aside 2-3k for it…
My idea was that we’d take a moment to thank them at the reception… and give them their new bands. They’ve talked about this for years but have been raising all of us crazy kids and consistently take a back seat. My fiance agrees – we need to do something extraordinary for them, and NO GIFT CARDS (they’ll just hand it back over… so something they cant easily reimburse us for).
Is this weird? please help… we’re incredibly close with them, and they’ve been so patient and generous to a fault… I need outrageous ideas if this is not ok…
