Sounds amazing!!!!!! The start time doesn't seem unreasonable. You could do a lot of the formal family pictures, etc., beforehand to save on time after the ceremony. Plus the color scheme sounds just gorgeous.
Personally, I am always looking for great things to do on New Years, and I can't imagine a better party! Most people stay out late that night anyway.
One word of caution: a super late reception probably isn't kid-friendly...how do you feel about that?
P.S. Congrats on your engagement and welcome to weddingbee!!!
i think the timing works out well. it gives people time to eat dinner on their own before the ceremony and then party it up the rest of the night :)

Looking for comments and opinions about a New Year's Eve wedding to start at 8pm with a cocktail reception.
Is that too late? I'm wanting it to go into midnight.
It would be ceremony first (traditional episcopalian, about an hour, with lots of candles) and then a fun, party atmosphere for the cocktail reception.
We are looking at an ice/powder/sky blue with charcoal grey and plenty of silver and sparkle.
