heya bees !
I have decided that this year im going to find myself something to do in my spare time! i work full time, 5/6 days a weeks and have a dog which i love taking for walks, but i feel that i want a hobby, my bf is always out and about doing something… quad bikes, shooting, fishing, cars etc. but i dont have anything to do. I live in a the country side so evening classes etc are not realy an option. I am a 21 year old female who isnt interested in going out to the pub etc but more of a homely girl. 🙂
what do you do in your spare time? any ideas ? and how did you get into your hobby?

I hate not having anything to do, so I’m always getting into some kind of new project or craft. I’m an art major in university, so that kind of comes naturally to me.
I’ve recently taken up quilting over my holiday school break, and holy crap does it take up a lot of time. Even if you don’t have a sewing machine, you could still technically do it all by hand, but I think I’d still be sewing months later if I did that, haha. I can’t tell you what made me start looking at quilting blogs, but I just became obsessed over night and the second I got a sewing machine I started on one right away.
I pretty much recommend anything crafty, but starting a new artistic hobby can be expensive, so that’s a downside. (I’m cheap though, I’ll hit up sales and double up with coupons.) But you don’t even have to take a class for these things; the internet has so many resources and nearly everything I do in my spare time is something I taught myself (baking, cross stitch, sewing, etc.).

I’m a 23 year old homebody and I really like to knit while I watch TV. It makes me feel like I”m being more productive because I have something useful at the end of a movie marathon. I also like to read a lot and so does FI so we kind of have our own mini book club.

I’m 30. I took up knitting and am currently working on making blankets for all four of my dogs. One at a time, of course.
@Eckle: I wish I was at the point where I could knit and still pay attention to the tv!

@strawbabies: I like to watch documentaries when I’m knitting, it’s not so crucial to be looking at the screen all of the time. I also watch them on Netflix, so if I need to focus I can pause for a moment.

I need to teach myself how to knit again >.>….I was starting to get the hang of it and then just stopped. Life got busy and now I’m back to square one.
I would love to try quilting! I actually think I’d like that better, lol

@lucy_smith: Do you ever go with your bf? I like going fishing (went ice fishing yesterday) and hunting occasionally. I’m working on my Italian as a hobby, and like to sew, cook, bake. Go to yoga. Being active is a good habit – lucky you with a puppy!
I’m really not one to watch TV, I’d rather write or read a book. Just focus on something you enjoy, and you can have lots of hobbies!

I like reading (fiction, nonfiction, learning languages, academic) and I do workout/stay active (generally 3-5 times a week). I also like to cook and bake some every few weeks or so I might try something new on the weekend.
I am thinking about getting a sewing machine and teaching myself how to sew sometime this year or next. I still take some things to my mom to sew for me so it would be nice to learn myself.
