The transit system is safe because you will most likely be staying in the safe parts of town as a tourist. If you are staying in the tourist areas (Times Square, Herald Square, Lincoln Center, to name a few), you won't have to worry about places to avoid. What kind of food do you like and what kind of shows do you like? I have a million suggestions, but they depend on your taste!
Thanks for the reply, we are staying near times square. I was lookinafford an affordable breakfast joint. More of an eggs and home fries place. Also, I'm looking a nicedinner plae as an anniversary meal!
I really enjoyed Avenue Q as a show. It was hilarious! Also, make time to get on top of the Empire State Building. It's a beautiful view up there.

HI!!
I'll be taking a mini vacay to NYC soon and have never been. I was wondering if anyone could reccomend any good restaurants, must sees and broadway shows.
also, what are some areas to avoid and how safe is the transit system? is it the best way to get around?
