I spent two weeks in the South island last year during my spring break! I LOVED it. My FH's parents were living there for 6 months so we stayed with them and traveled around some. I haven't been to Australia though so I don't have a lot of info in the way of comparisons...What kind of questions do you have about NZ?

I live in nz, and I've been to oz, of course I'm gonna pick nz, as I'm bias, but I reckon you shouldn't choose, go to both!
Check out Jetstar and airnz grabaseat, both have amazing deals between oz and nz, the price is probably similar to your airfares between states.
Otherwise, come to nz, we're awesome.
My family spent a month in each country and unanimously preferred NZ. The people were so friendly and welcoming and there was so much to do anywhere you went. We actually rented an RV and toured both islands. I loved the Kauri trees (some awesome forests in the north island), whale watching in Rotarua, spending the day walking around Christchurch, we took a helicoper ride up to a glacier, we saw all the different kinds of sheep (I can't remember where) and watching the herding dogs run across their backs, too many memories. It's a place I'll go back to for sure.
You can't go wrong with either locale, but I prefer New Zealand.

I studied for a semester in Australia and stopped in NZ for 2 weeks on my way home. I would recommend NZ over Australia. The beauty of the South Island is like nothing I've ever seen. The people are amazing and the activities are endless.

We’re debating btwn NZ and Australia. We'll be going in early December this year. We’ve done some research on Australia, and want to go there. However, we want NZ too, hopefully get some advice so we can weight it out more easilyl. Anyone been to NZ before? Any advice, tips, ideas to help me? Thanks!
