Hey all!
We have a lot of newbees around here (hooray for holiday proposals!) so I thought this would be a good time for us to get acquainted! So, welcome! Introduce yourself, tell us something fun about you! I'll start:
I'm Bakerella (I'm the Community Coordinator around here). I've been a member of the site for about 2 years now. I met my DH while waiting for an elevator six years ago (six?! Holy cow time flies!!). DH never got a chance to propose, my dad actually did it. We got married September 2010 in a rustic elegance outdoor wedding. I have a 5 year old stepson and 2 cats, Peter and Glory (whose furry faces you'll see plastered all over the boards). I absolutely love the community here, the close knit group of women and the support we all offer each other. I think it's a such a unique little corner of the interwebs and I'm so happy and lucky to be a part of it!

I suppose I'm a newbee :) My names Amanda and I have been lurking for a few months but just started posting in early December. I got engaged on Dec. 22nd to my best friend. I am beyond excited to get married and I am so thankful to have found the bee. It truly is a wonderful place to share ideas and meet others. I have not started my planning yet but I will definitely be using the bee every step of the way!

I'm a newbee! My name is Dana, i'm 22 years old and got engaged on December 22 after dating for 4 years. We are shooting for possibly November 2013 for our wedding, so I have plenty of planning time! I'm really excited to get more wedding inspiration from the bee and getting to know the brides and brides-to-be!
I'm newish, I've been around for maybe two months, when I thought the engagement was close and i was right :) We got engaged on Dec 12th, 2011 and are planning for a wedding late 2013 or mid 2014 due to who we want to be in it being in the country and our lives are pretty up in the air for the next year or so.
@bakerella: So basically I think that your story of how you met your DH is the best ever! How cute :)

My name is Prue and I recently was proposed to by my sweetheart. He's this adorable man who makes me laugh and smile form the inside out and I love him beyond anything in this world.
We're getting married in August of this year, and we can't wait to start out lives together.

Just ended a lovely evening. Two couples came over to welcome us into our new home and celebrate our engagement. A welcome moment to celebrate, we have had to deal with too much reality of moving and have not had much time to revel since we moved up last week.
With the move I have barely had a moment to revel in the joy of our engagement... and planning the wedding! I/we don't want anything big/fancy/expensive, but I still am very excited to have a day to celebrate our journey that started over five years ago.

I'm new here, although I did lurk for a while before actually joining. FI and I have been together since 13 August 2007, and he proposed 19 December 2011. We're high school sweethearts. :) We're both in the military. I'm overseas right now, he's stateside. We're doing a courthouse wedding on my midtour leave and then having a ceremony and reception for family and friends when my tour is over and I'm back stateside in a year. My mom, his mom, and my 3 sisters are doing the planning for us because neither of us are close enough to do it ourselves. We're from a small town, and that's where we'll be having the ceremony and reception.
As for me, I like to read. A lot. As often as possible. I don't like driving. At all. I'm very shy. I don't drink or smoke. I'm underage as far as drinking goes, but it's never really appealed to me anyway. FI is big on drinking though, haha. I love cats! I wish I could have one. I'm only 20, FI is 21. We're young, I suppose, but so excited to not live so far away from each other (14 hour time difference right now!) and be able to see each other daily and just enjoy each others company. :)

I've recently become engaged to my best friend of 6 years! Yay! We are hoping for a wedding at the end of December 2012, but it may be mid 2013 depending on finances. (Plus I secretly would love a Winter wedding!)
I decided I would join the Weddingbee board because nearly every time I search for wedding info online, I ended up here! And from what I can see I love it!
Oh, and I love the way everyone refers to the others as bees, it's so cute and makes me feel like this is a warm community that I'd like to be part of.

Hello. I'm Nicole and I have been lurking for a few days now. My fiance and I met and started dating 11 years ago as military brats in Germany. He was my first love, real boyfriend, everything. Moved to the States (first time for me) when his id card expired. Broke up after 3 years with a 1 year old daughter (now 9). We were 22 and just stressed. Both married other people. I had my second dd (now 6). Divorced the other people within months (divorces were in 2008 and 2009, had nothing to do with the other, our insignificant others both ended up being cheaters). Found our way back to each other January 2010. Have been happily together ever since. I did a quick Justice of the Peace marriage with my first husband. Was going to do the same for my second marriage, but lurking here has awakened some kind of obsessive need to have my own wedding dress. We will probably still elope, but maybe let some friends and daughters tag along. And his parents. Almost all of my extended family is in Germany and I couldn't do a big wedding without them and with our schedules... a wedding in Germany is not possible. I'm in school fulltime for social work.
I get along with almost everyone and talk/type a lot. :D
I will need help finding a dress.
Hi everyone! I'm a newbee too :)
My darling proposed to me on the 18th of December on a pier on the River Thames in London under a starry sky.
We are both from New Zealand but are living and working in London for a couple of years, and using London as a base to travel all over Europe (pretty cool engagement if you ask me!). We are getting married in December 2013 when we return home to New Zealand, but we will plan the entire wedding sight unseen from the UK - it will definitely be a challenge, although we have a fair bit of time up our sleeves, so fingers crossed!
I'm looking forward to getting to know some other bees and learning some tips and tricks from everyone... let the planning begin :)

I met my lovely man in my local pub about three years ago and last April he popped the question in Edinburgh botantical gardens :) We have finally set the date, woooo. Roll on 8th June 2013! It seems so far away but I know it'll come round quick.
We've already started planning (so excited) but i look forward to learning tricks and sharing tips with the hive :)

@Miss Drongo: I wasn't going to comment, but then I saw you got engaged in the Edinburgh gardens and I coudln't help my self, When I was an exchange student in Edinburgh a few years ago I spent literally months of my time wondering around there becuase I didn't know anyone. Such a magical place, congrats on the engagement!

My FI/SO proposed dec 25th on the marine corp mase in SanDeigo, so maybe not super romantic, but asked again on the 26th 27th and several times on the 28th to make sure i wasn't changing my mind lol. Unfortunately there is curently no ring and we are waiting for him to come home from deployment to make it official. I will be posting pictures ther very SECOND there is a shiny thing on my finger.... Promise!

Hi everyone! My name is Shakira and I am a newbee! My FH proposed on December 2, 2011 at Hickory Nut Gorge, outside of Chimney Rock in North Carolina. We were on our way to a weekend trip to Waynesville, NC. It was a complete surprise and the timing was perfect. It was "us" and it was beautiful! He did a great job! We've been together a little over 2 years, and have known each other for 3. We are shooting for June 1, 2013, so we are in the early planning stages. The funny thing is, I've had this thing planned for a year and we started saving a few months ago - so we've (I've) been planning. I'm not crazy, just love to plan. So far I've loved the ideas I've gotten from the site. From this site I got a cute idea of how I asked my friends to be my bridesmaids. So I'll be posting that in the DIY section soon - so very happy for the inspiration. Very happy to be here!

I have been (kind of obsessively) reading the blogs and DIY page for almost a year now, but I am a newbee on the boards so I figured I'd introduce myself!
My FI and I got engaged on 7.9.11 at the Bean in Millenium Park Downtown Chicago. We've known each other only about three years, but have been dating for 2.5ish of it. We are getting married on 9.15.12 at the Brookfield Zoo!
I look forward to getting to know everyone!
@Baker2Be: Welcome! A wedding at the zoo sounds amazing!! Do you get to take any photos with the animals??
@bakerella: Our photos can all have the animals we see that day in the background, but not specifically with an animal. But, we are having our cocktails in the underwater bear exhibit :D There is a polar bear, Hudson, who is a big ham, and loves to come up to the viewing window for photos, so we are excited to see what kind of photos we get out of that!
(I actually worked in the events department at the zoo all through hs and college, so I have wanted to get married there since then :D haha)
@Baker2Be: Oh my gosh, that's amazing!! I keep telling DH I want to renew our vows and have another wedding every year just so I can have all the cool weddings everyone else has, a zoo wedding is definitely at the top of the list!
Hello! I just stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago. Just got engaged on 11-11-11 : ) So excited! Our wedding is 11-10-12, so it is already coming up fast! I'm so excited to be on this site, I've already found it so helpful!

I'm a newbie, my name is Shea. I got engaged on December 24, 2011. My FI gave me a bunch of m&m's and when I looked down (thank goodness I looked down before popping them in my mouth) they said Will You Marry Me. From a guy who doesn't have a romantic bone in his body, that was the sweetest thing ever!
We are planning a May 12, 2012 wedding (I know only a 4 month engagement) but we are both ready to settle down and are at great places in our lives, both career and personally. Over the past 3 years, I have helped two of my sisters get married, so I know exactly what I want and how I want it. And if I had to wait any longer for our big day I would probably drive myself crazy.

My name is Autumn, I got engaged Christmas day :) We met on a blind date on Valentines day 2003 which was set up by my best friend which is his cousin. This Valentines will be our 9 year anniversary! We are planning to get married May 26, 2013. I'm working for Wells Fargo and he works for a manufacturing company. I have a 10lb kitty named Daisy and we're hoping to adopt a puppy sometime in the near future :)
Hi! I'm new to the site and it is wonderful! so much information.
I got engaged on Dec 9th, but only now (one month later) I'm getting around to see wedding dresses online.
I already have a venue booked and paid for, so my wedding will be on August 4th.
My major anxiety is the dress. I am a street size (US) 10 and I want to loose weigh to get back to my usual size 6 before my wedding but that creates even more anxiety in terms of how much time do I have before I can order a dress.
To make it worse, I hate my upper arms (bingo wings) and I don't want strapless, which is the majority of dresses out there sniff!
So here I am, stressed and a bit depressed instead of excited!
Newly engaged and new to this site. So far it's been great to look at ideas and I look forward to posting questions and feedback.
We got engaged on our 5 year anniversary on Dec. 17 and are shooting for a summer 2013 wedding at this point!

I'm Erin! I actually wrote on this board before, BUT my comp messed up. So now I have to re-do it. Whomp whomp. Anyway, I'm getting married to the best guy EVER on Oct 18th of this year! I live in Richmond VA but I'm originally from Buffalo NY which is where I'm having the ceremony. I have 2 smushy faced dogs named Pudge and Smudge and a cat named Ophelia who seems to suffer from some sort of mental disorder. I'm so excited!! My wedding has a theme: "Enchanted Forest". It's like a woodland fairytale theme! I came on to these boards because I figured you guys would have some great ideas for centerpieces and displays and such! You all seem so creative! I'M SO PUMPED! Nice to meet you all!
Hi! I'm not new to the site, but new to being engaged, lol. First joined trying to look around for ideas to help my brother ... he's been engaged quite a few time ... and he finally got married! And a few months after, my significant other proposed =)
We haven't chosen a date, we're planning for maybe 3 years down the road. We'd both like to go back to school, so now we're just trying to save as much as we can, both for the wedding, and for grad school!
My funny proposal story has already been up, lol, so if you want to know it happened, go through my threads. We've known each other for 3.5 years, have been together for almost 3 years. We met in neighboring colleges, on the joint ballroom team. One day my partner didn't show up to practice, and that was the first moment I was free to meet other people. According to him, I walked past and he though I was really cute. He had to say something to me, but he was so nervous. He kind of came over, pointed to my shoes, and squealed, and I understood that was supposed to mean "cute shoes!" Obviously I thought he was gay ...
Anyways, our whole friendship began on the premises that I thought he was gay, and when a friend disagreed based on his "FB status" : interested in women, I snorted and said FB lies sometimes. I was determined to help him come out of the closet! And then there was a little bit of angst involved .. I liked him, he liked me, but it was the wrong time for us, we were both dating other people at the wrong moments. And more angst, lol ... I lost a few people in my life and was going through a tough time, and he ended up being there for me. Eventually he couldn't take the angsting anymore. He took me sledding in a kayak, which was nearly not as fun as he promised it would be, and told me that he loved me and wanted to marry me one day. We've been together ever since =)

I'm realtively new here as well. I had visted WeddingBee a few times in the past year but only joined in November when I felt the engagement was coming soon. (and can not begin to explain how obsessed I have become).
Annnyway- We got engaged on 12/4/2011 and it was the best day of my life so far of course :) My FI and I had been just friends for almost 3 years before we realized it was sooooo much more, I feel so incredibly lucky to have fallen in love with my best friend. I have been through a lot in my life and had some rough years and FI knows all the good and all the bad about me- and still loves me :) We're getting married on 11.3.12 in a barn in VT. So it will defintiely have the rustic feel!

We started dating back in early 2006. I've been waiting since late 2006 ;) JK I all honesty. This guy is my soul mate, my lover, my best friend.
He proposed on Dec 25 2011. Date is tentative for Oct 2012
I'm new here, my name is Sarah and I currently live in Florida. I recently (and finally lol) got engaged, on Dec. 17th, after 7.5 years of dating...we got past the itch before we even said "I do"! ;)
We met during my last year of HS, his first year of college, and have been best friends ever since. Looking at a Feb. 23rd 2013 wedding in our home state of Indiana. I plan to have a slight winter theme with dark/royal blue, cream, and hints of brown. Love this website already!!!
Hi everyone. I'm Jamie. I'm 27 and live in San Antonio, TX. I'm an ICU RN. I got engaged in September, and it took me a while to find this site. I have been with my FI for 5 1/2 years. We are getting married October 2012. I have the venue/church and colors picked out and that's about it! I am going to a wedding fair next weekend and hope to find some great vendors. I'm addicted to the site and visit everyday! I'm so glad there is a site for real brides that can give opinions and support one another : ) I look forward to getting to know you guys!
@bakerella: Hello everyone!!!I just wanted to say that I have been here about a week. We got engaged last April on my birthday weekend (prior to deployment) and I have been following, but wasn't really able to post good pics (cause I didn't have any until after our wedding last month on my R and R at BEACHES in Negril, Jamaica..my sis took 500 pics and we got some professional ones done) Both of us are in the military so our courtship was difficult and planning the wedding was something we wanted to have stress free. My hope is to encourage others by pics or words on here with my engagement and our destination wedding experience....cause they helped me when I was browsing!!!! Thanks and God Bless!!!
