We got engaged July last year and are getting married July of this year, so a year-long engagement. With you having more time, you can definitely do things at a slower pace. This is our order of planning:
1. Venue and Church
2. Dress
3. Bridal Party
4. DJ
5. Photographer
6. Bridesmaid Dresses
7. Wedding Rings
Those are all of the big ones we have so far. With about 6.5 months until the wedding, we are planning our honeymoon right now. I still have to do my food/cake tasting at my venue and figure out my invites and decor.

We got our venue
Photographer (because they book out quickly)
Caterer (same reason as above)
We didn't need to look for a DJ or Florist or that would've been next (same reason as above)
Dress
Bridal Party
If you are DIY anything I would start that list as soon as you have your venue, florist, & caterer (pretty much when you know what "look" you're going for)
Your wedding coordinator should be able to help you with all this too. Congrats =)

Greetings! I'm new to WeddingBee.. Just registered and newly engaged.
My question is, although my wedding date isn't until August 2013, what I need help with is WHERE to start? In your opinion, which area besides finding a venue is the most important and time consuming and which deserves my attention early on?
Although I have plenty of resources for everything above, I'm in the process of narrowing down and seeing which is the most economical for me and my FI's budget. I just need a little direction of determining which area did you spend the most time working on and any advice for someone who is recently engaged. I've also determined who my wedding party is and have hired a coordinator. However, I am still a semi-DIY bride-to-be!
Also, any help on where to start with planning a honeymoon!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
