- Wedding: May 2011
While wedding planning has been in the works for a few weeks now, there is something I must share first. The Proposal!!
So my fiance and I have been together for a year and a half. And since day one I knew he was the man for me. We have talked about marraige for quite sometime, and honestly I started to become antsy!!! He had always said that he did not want to propose with out the perfect ring, and to get the perfect ring, ment we had to have the money. He is a volunteer firefighter and works an 8-5 job to keep up the household until he can get a fulltime firefighting job. So I knew, this is going to take a while.
So on the first weekend of summer, well the weekend before, I had gotten 4 days off from work to use up my vacation time, so I figured, heck this might be the weekend I’ve been waiting for!! We went out to the mountains, took trips out to little festivals in our area and had an AMAZING weekens, but huh, still no proposal. With my hopes up high and my spirits low, I went back to work monday morning (June 21, summer solctice). After a long day at work we came home, BBQ’d some steaks and had a wonderful dinner together (btw we have a house together). After dinner we sat and watched our favorite show Rescue Me (the one with the hot firefighters hehe). About midnight we decided to call it a night and go to bed. I got ready for bed and got comfortable just like any other night. He said he was going to let the dogs in and lock up the house. Nothing different right?? WRONG! HE NEVER CAME BACK!!! I got worried, looked everywhere around the house for him and he was GONE! Oh no. So I went back to the bedroom where my phone was kept so I could call him. Once I got back to the room I noticed a note on the floor with my name on it. This cant be good. I opened it and it said “I can’t find the dogs, will you help me? I think they might be in the garage.” And thats when it started, a 20 minute long scavenger hunt around my house looking for clues for the next note. At the end I came to one on the top of my TV, it said “Now close your eyes, turn around, and count to ten outloud”. I did as told, and counted to ten as calmly as possible, opened my eyes, and there was the man of my dreams holding my most perfect ring. I cried and laughed and cried and didn’t know what to say. After a loud YES!! I have now become the future Mrs. Fire.
