Generally the biggest expense is the reception: venue, food and drink. So look into limiting the size of the guest list, as well as economical venue and menu options. (But don’t go *too* cheap on the food – no one wants a rubbish meal).

The best way of course is to get creative about the wedding venue. The way some people do it:

– Find a friend or relative willing to let you use their garden/house/property as a wedding venue.

– Find a restaurant you love, that already looks great (/how you’d like your wedding to look)

– Find a public space or non-profit facility (e.g.: park, church space, football clubhouse, youth hostel) that will let you use their space for cheap.
