Hi! I found wedding bee thanks to a Boston wedding planner i’m considering hiring. I am not from Boston and have only lived here 7 months, but I think I’d like to get married here (where my groom is from) simply because it would be SO much easier to plan a wedding from the same city where I live and work.
I’d love ideas on how to get started planning on a 150-person, unique/outdoor vibe wedding that is a budget of $25K….any suggestions for dress boutiques? Locations? Has anyone been married at the Lars Anderson Auto Museum? I’m also considering a backyard wedding at my grooms’ childhood home outside Boston…don’t know how difficult planning that would be.
Thanks for the local advice! Happy to be a new bee!

@boston_bride18: congrats on your engagement! ive heard lars anderson is a cool venue, but i would check the rules. when Fiance and i were thinking we might get married here, there were a lot of cool unique venues with strange rules (like no chairs, at all)!
cant wait to follow your plans! i would have loved a boston wedding but it wasnt in the budget for us 🙁 i’ll live vicariously through you!

I know a bride getting married there-it sounds like a unique venue. It will be the type of venue though where you will need to plan everything-tables, chairs, caterer, even the liquor. You have to obtain your own one day liquor license and determine how to distribute it.
Just be sure to take all of these things into consideration when comparing to other locations that will provide tables, chairs, food and bev.

@bostongirl27: Thanks for the tips! We’ll see if a Boston wedding is in our budget too…I’m hoping with a wedding planner, we’ll be able to make it work. (I’m considering hummingbirdbridal.com) I’ll keep you updated on plans in this thread 🙂

@kmarie719: Thanks for the tips…I have to decide what kind of control/personalization I want and what I am OK leaving up to the venue to do. If you think of other similarily unique venues in Boston (we would prefer guest & public transportation friendly), pass ’em on. –A

I am in a very similar boat as you… about the same guest count, and going for the same wedding style. I will not divulge my venue, as I am very possesvie and want it all to myself (LOL)… but here are a few other interesting/unique sites… The Griffon Museum of Photography, Commanders Mansion, and deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum.
I am an event planner in Boston myself, so let me know if you want any free advise!
