Congrats again (on the correct board). Are you up in the Gloucester area? I grew up in the north shore area, but am getting married in the city in 8 more weeks :)
Congrats! The ring is super pretty. Also, hello "date twin!" :)
@sheilad72: Thanks again!! :) I'm actually on the Swampscott/Lynn line. Just moved up here from the city (lived in Brighton), and absolutely love it. That's so exciting about your winter wedding!! May I ask where you're having it?
@elizabeth2004: Thanks, "date twin" :) Yeah we haven't actually announced the date yet, but we're pretty sure that weekend will be best. Fingers crossed that it doesn't conflict with any other big events... luckily most of my friends are already married, so I don't have to worry about that ;) How far along are you in the planning process?
@Blue Eyes by the Sea: That's a nice area, we go to Nahant Beach alot in the summer! We are getting married at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. I can't believe it is almost here!!!! I can't wait for the big day and for the honeymoon! Get me out of the cold New England weather!
@Blue Eyes by the Sea: Yeah, we picked that weekend to avoid other city events, luckily no people conflicts here. :) I'm not as far along in planning as I would like. We have a venue, catering, photographers, and save the dates. Up next - trying on dresses. :) It's sounds like you were already in planning mode, so hopefully all the details come together for you!
Congrats!!! your ring is so stunning! love it! many happy years to you!
Welcome to the hive! I'm a North Shore gal born in raised, but living in the south now. Congrats on your engagement and good luck with wedding planning!
Thank you so much, ladies!! I'd love to see your rings and hear about your experiences as well!

(NOTE: Sorry for the double post... somehow this ended up in the "South Asian" section the first time around!)
Hello ladies!
I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but I'm a longtime lurker, first-time poster. I just got engaged last weekend to my boyfriend of over nine years, and I'm sooooo excited!!! We met in a random roommate sublet situation way back in 2002, and basically just stayed together ever since. We moved to the west coast together, then to another country together, and finally back to Massachusetts 3 years ago. Having met him at 19 years old, I feel like we've really "grown up" together, and I am SO EXCITED to marry him next summer by the ocean!
Proposal story: Last Sunday evening, FH took me to the park that juts out into the ocean across the street from our house, where we had already decided we'd get married next summer. We've had the ring since August, and waiting felt like torture, but life has been crazy lately so the proposal was put on hold. Anyways, we had champagne as we sat facing southward, with the Boston skyline backlit by the sunset :) He said some of the sweetest things I've ever heard, read me something he'd written for me (he's a writer), and then asked me to marry him. It was low-key and perfect :) Then I went home and made all the requisite phone calls (big sis, father, best friend) before posting it on FB ;)
Anyways, I just wanted to say a big *THANK YOU* to the hive, because even though we've never actually talked, your posts have all been incredibly helpful during the waiting period, the ring-designing process (I designed my own), and a ton of other wedding-related issues.... hey, when you've been a Waiting Bee as long as I was, you plan a lot of stuff before you're officially engaged ;)
I'm attaching some ring pics... fingers crossed that it works! It's an unheated, untreated 1.53ct blue Ceylon sapphire from the Natural Sapphire Company, bezel-set in a platinum Edwardian-inspired mounting (also from the NSC, who I cannot recommend enough!), surrounded by Canadian diamonds. I always knew I wanted a sapphire because it's my favorite color, the color of my eyes and his, it predates diamonds as the traditional e-ring choice, I'm not a fan of what African diamonds represent, etc etc etc... I'll stop rambling now ;)
Looking forward to meeting all of you! Hope you like my sapphire! Any other sapphire brides want to share? Or any Mass brides? (I'm from the "CT Berkshires", now living on the North Shore of MA :) Not many of my friends live up here (all in Boston, or California, or other countries) so I haven't had a chance to really gush!
...one last thing: hopefully I've posted in the correct place. I'm new, so if I violated any WB etiquette, please let me know!
XOXO
