My Fiance proposed to me yesterday and it was beautiful! He bought me the exact ring I lusted after for ages (and never thought I would get because it’s way expensive). I loved it and I still love it to death – but these tiny doubts have been creeping into my head, maybe because I am second guessing my decision? I’m worried that it is too small for my finger, and considering the cost I feel bad that it was so expensive and I am worrying that it is too small?
I guess I am just hoping for reassurance that it doesn’t look too small on my finger (I guess I see all these spectacular rings on WB and they all seem pretty big) – I mean, if I’m worrying that it’s too small now, will it become a bigger problem later on?
I am also in Mexico at the moment and feel like my finger is quite a lot fatter than it usually is. Maybe if it goes back down once I get home I won’t feel this way. I definitely didn’t think this way when I tried it on in the shop.
My Fiance has told me I can return it if I want but that he thinks it’s stunning on me. I do seriously love it, and don’t want to take it back. He is an amazing guy and the fact he went out of his way to get me this ring means so much to me. I feel like a spoiled brat!!! So please, tell me to get over it!

I think it looks beautiful!

It looks amazing. Don’t worry about other people’s rings. You love it and thats what matters. Personally, i think you would regret returning it.

Get over it! Lol. That’s what you wanted to hear, right?
I never understand these threads. You don’t need validation from strangers on the internet. Remember you loved that ring for a reason and, more importantly, you love the person who gave it to you!!! Many people think their rings are too small (or too big) at some point.

LeChatN0ir: if it’s still uncomfortable when you get back, just get it resized. It’s a simple fix that a lot of us have to go through!

I think that’s one of the difficult things a guy has to do, guess the size of the ring. Some are lucky (I’ve always worn a ring, and have a few. So, when my fiancé went to the jewelry store while I was at work, he had a one-up on the matter by taking one of my spares and putting it back before I got home).
If the ring actually feels tight, get it resized. Tell your guy that it feels a little small, and go together.
Now, if you actually think the stone itself is too small, I’m with the other girls. Get over it. It came from his heart, so it means something to him too. I never wanted a diamond, never cared for them. I told my guy that before he got the ring (we discussed many things long before he proposed). He still got a diamond, and I still love it despite that it wasn’t what I wanted. It came from him, and he loves me enough to keep me around. That means more to me than anything else.
P.S. LeChatN0ir, CONGRATULATIONS!!

LeChatN0ir: I think it looks really elegant. It looks like the perfect size to me.

Thanks everyone for your comments – I know it’s a silly thread but I appreciate you taking the time to reposed.
gelaine22: I understand where you’re coming from. We aren’t telling anyone about the engagement until we get home in a week or so, so I literally have no one to talk to about any of this stupid stuff that runs through my head!

Or respond, rather. You’re all right – the significance of the ring far outweighs anything else! And I do love it. I’m just hoping the finger de-swells and we won’t have to re-size it or anything.
Thanks again for the replies- I think I am officially over it, haha!

The band itself looks light it might be too snug on your finger (but like you said ur in Mexico so do to stress abt that until u get home and that’s an easy quick fix) how does it feel?! That’s what’s really important! The diamond size looks perfect and beautiful!! And like you said he went out of his way to get you something super $$ for you guys so what would being unhappy about the size of the diamond do for you, it sounds like an upgrade is out of the budget. So enjoy it!! Congrats!!!!

Girl, you be crazy, that ring is gorgeous, and it looks marvelous on you! 😀

BWLE has a good point. Aside from the fact that your ring is beautiful and looks perfect on your hand, you say that this ring was quite expensive. If you decide it is “too small”, do you have the option of returning it for a larger stone and the additional expense that would incur? If not, why worry about something outside the budget?

If the weather is really really hot, of course your finger will swell quite bad, no worries 😀 I live in a tropical country where mid-day heat can be scorching and I’m aware that my fingers immediately shrink once I’ve been in an air conditioned room for some time. That’s when my ring starts to feel too big. But as always, you can always resize the ring, just make sure the jeweler does it right with extra care.

I think everyone has little doubts about wedding things after the fact becuase theoretically, you only get this ONCE…. so even though you lusted for the ring, now that you have it you know you can’t change your mind or go pick something else. It’ll come and go. Styles and trends change. You’ll have days where you’ll be like, man I wish I’d picked THAT ring…. and other days where you can’t stop staring at yours. Just the way it is. Remind yourself that its a phase. ANY ring you’d picked, you’d be thinking the same thing at some point.
