I got engaged on February 15 and we just booked our venue for this year october 4 2014. We got major discounts and waived fees for booking this year which is great but also nerve wracking. Luckily the venue deals with most of the ceremony and reception details so all i have to worry about is the attire, guests/invites, photography, florist and dj. I have begun to make appointments and will possibly book them. Is anyone else planning in a time crunch and how are you managing it? I dont feel overwhelmed yet but i would like some tips to make this happen

We’re also date twins. Haha. Congratulations! I probably can’t help a whole lot as I’m not pressed for time. We were actually engaged in 2011 but we didn’t want to set a date until we were finished building our house and then my best friend and matron on honor was 8 weeks pregnant in Feb 2013 and due in October so I pushed it until October 2014. We had lots of time to plan!

I’m also a date twin! I just officially got engaged tonight! My fiancé (still feels different now saying bf!) and I had talked about the date before we were engaged! Little over 6 months but we can do this!!! We got this!! The only thing I have done is we know where the ceremony will be, the colors, the wedding party and I have my dress mentally picked out and my BM dresses picked! Plus my fiancé and I agreed no wedding decisions for a week so this will be exciting!!

Acp8760: I got engaged around Christmas 2013 and we just booked our venue for our 10/11/14 wedding, so kudos to you getting your venue so quickly! So far, it’s been the hardest thing to accomplish, so I’m feeling behind on everything else.
So far I’ve only taken care of my dress, gifts for the bridesmaids and groom, and we’ve just set up our wedding website and registry. We’re still comparing prices for photographers and djs, but that’s all I can handle at the moment. I get easily overwhelmed, so having those wedding checklists and timelines help keep me in line. Admittedly though, I still get overwhelmed by them because I keep on seeing all the things that haven’t been done yet!
I don’t really have any tips on how to make things happen, but the 2 things that have really helped me are Wedding Wire to find vendors and Google Docs’ wedding planner. I like that FI or I can access the wedding planner from home or work, and it beats lugging around one of those pre-made notebooks everywhere. I bought one of those things before I discovered the Google one, and it’s completely empty except for the folders where I keep paperwork.

I was engaged the day before thanksgiving and am getting married on October 11th. We booked our venue in January giving us less than 8 months to plan our wedding but things have all been coming together. Up until last month it was non stop wedding planning.
i now have bridsl fatigue syndrome!

We share engagement days, as I too, got engaged on February 15! 🙂
I am either shooting for October 17, 2014 or will wait until next May. It’s too hard to do weddings in the winter time where I live, and November is out since it’s hunting month (for my FI, not me!). I am hoping it works. I have called places to get availability and pricing, so once we (me, FI, both of our parents) can agree on a guest list – we should be set to start booking things.

I got a lot accomplished this weekend. Booked our ceremony and reception sight, bought a dress, asked my girls, had their dresses picked out, and we started our guest list tonight. Get that list done then the budget and will get to take a break for a while!

Congrat date twin!!! I was engaged on our anniversary last year (Nov 6) I book the church, restaurant and photographer fairly quickly. It was done within 2 weeks. It is the makeup, color theme, cake, BM dresses… all the details drive me nut.
thanks god, I always knew my FI and I love purple and we choose lavender as our theme color quickly. I think your first task is get your Make UP Arist book ASAP and photographer book soon. They get book up real fast.. especially those reputatable one.
Things that I done: BM dresses bought (bought it at light in the box, dressilyme… awesome quality and lower price tag compare to bridal salon. Trust me, actual dress is exactly like the photo on their website. Between two company, I love dressilyme better) If you are on a budget, I would try their wedding gowns too. I heard so many good review about them online. I cannot comment on their gowns but so far I bought 6 dresses from them, the quality of the dresses exceed my expectation and delivery are quick consider shipping from China. Took them one week to ship it over.
I initially wanted to DIY but found an awesome decorator via common friend. Her past production ar so pretty and the price is unbeatable compare to other vender. She only charge me for 2K where others based rate is 3K and up.
