I was terrified of wearing my ring at first too, but now I feel naked without it, =). Get it insured ASAP!

a well made ring shouldn’t snag and should hold up to getting bumped once in a while.  Good idea to get it insured anyways!  And where are pics, missy?

size 5 finger.

2 carat stone.

it is pretty high but i’m just careful. take it off to do any kind of housework or chores. just wear it at work and out and about, but not for anything where i’m really using my hands.

Dang that is some serious bling, bees!!

I actually just took my ring to my jeweller today! Two of the prongs had bent back slightly, and since I spend an inordinate amount of time examining my ring, I noticed right away! I put it in the box and didn’t wear it until it was fixed because I was afraid of hurting it more, or maybe even losing the diamond like FI’s mom did. The gemologist (he used to grade diamonds at GIA) at the store told us we should bring it in 2-3 times a year to get it checked and maintenanced, and since I’ve had it since late April, it was about time. If you do that, it should help prevent and catch any problems you might have with your ring. We have mine insured so I try not to worry about losing/damaging it, too.

Here’s a picture of my lovely! <3

EDIT: Oops, mine’s nowhere near 2 carats (it’s about 1), but I do have a size 5 finger!

TO – des1982:  First off CONGRATULATIONS !!

(BTW, Ring Porn is a required element… *wink*)

EDIT LINE – I see while I was drafting up my reply you’ve now added a pic of your ring.  Truly GORGEOUS !!

Anyhow…

I can totally relate.  Mr TTR and I looked long and hard for 6 full weeks before we found THE RING.  It was a momentous occasion for us.  (You can read about my finding the ring, at this topic on WBee here = http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/in-the-words-of-etta-james-at-last-my-love-has-come-along-the-ring )

So, 2 weeks later the ring was on my finger… and I’ve been LOVIN’ it ever since

One of my concerns when looking for the ring, was how high the profile was… as I tend to be tough on my jewellery (lol, a leftover from my tom-boy childhood).  So I knew I was looking for a ring that didn’t have a high diamond, or anything that pretruded from a clean line.

Thankfully, the ring I chose has a feature diamond that isn’t raised substantially above the rest of the setting.

But I have to admit I still worry about knocking the diamond about… and something bad happening to it so unlike my first Bridal Set (I am an Encore Bride) that didn’t have much in the way of diamonds (circa 1980… when GOLD was expensive enough).  I found I don’t wear my E-Ring 24/7×365 because of the fact that the ring is so sparkly and valuable.

I expressed these concerns to Mr TTR, and he has assured me that I can relax, because if “anything was to happen” (and he’s doubtful that it ever would… I am just as per usual worrying about nothing) that the ring is fully insured.

So ya, I agree with the others… get full replacement insurance coverage asap !!

Lol, that doesn’t make my paranoia go away totally… I certainly am far more cautious with this E-Ring than I was my first.  And find that I wear it a lot less frequently… still everyday, just not for household cleaning, heavy chores, gardening etc.

Infact owning this beauty, has made me realize that I want my W-Band to be a very plain DURABLE ring that I can wear 24/7×365 and not worry about… essentially NEVER take it off.  So I am considering either a Platinum or 10K White Gold Band, both of which will stand up to daily wear and tear.

And now… without further ado… we bring you the obligatory ring porn…

My ring is pretty tall, too. It has long, slim prongs and I absolutely love it.

However, after just a week with it, I slammed my hand into a door when I was closing it (like, I hit my hand on the edge of the door, I didn’t shut my hand in the door) and I somehow smacked it so hard that I pushed the ring back (you know, just push the stone so that the ring leans toward the back of your hand) hard enough to give myself a blood blister from the contact AND bend a prong. I have no idea how any of that was even possible, but I’m not surprised that I managed it.

So, after one week I had to bring it in to have the prong fixed and then had to go a week without it! Now, though, it’s never a problem unless I’m sick or overly tired and my hand / eye coordination is bad, because then I manage to come into contact with just about everything. Considering how delicate the prongs are, I’m wildly impressed with just how well this thing holds up.

1. Insure it!!! If you accidentally bang it, at least you’re covered for repairs.

2. Beware or shopping trolleys!!!! My ring got snagged on one of the bars and bent one of the prongs! :(( Easy fix but my heart sank when it happened!

You will get used to the height, just be extra careful until then! Congratulations!!!
