Welcome to the Hive! And congratulations!
Since you asked… a few pointers on where to start the daunting task of planning…
- Create a budget. This will help you determine where to allot money, which venues are in your price range, how many guests you can invite, etc.
- Create a tiered guest list. The first tier is all the necessary invites that you absolutely have to have/really want at your wedding. The second tier is those that could be cut if necessary (e.g. guests for people that haven’t been dating for X amount of time — I think the usual cut-off is 1-1.5 years if they don’t live together). The third tier is those that you would invite if your budget allows, after inviting Tier 1 and Tier 2 (e.g. A friend that you haven’t spoken to in years).
- Get out there and find a venue. Once you have the venue booked you will have a set wedding date. Then you can book other vendors and everything falls into place.
But if I were you, I’d take at least a few weeks to just enjoy the engagement. I mean, how often does a girl get to say she’s engaged? Live it up!
