He finally popped the question yesterday and I have a new sparkly and shiny ring (pictured)! I’m very happy! I’m already paranoid about my ring getting dirty, so I’m wondering–how do you all care for your e-rings? Do you take it off everytime you wash your hands to avoid soap scum? How often do you clean it and what do you use?

I take mine off when washing dishes or gardening or even putting on lotion. I use the good ol red jar of jewelry cleaning solution from walmarts jewelry counter. Just soak it for a few minutes in the solution, use the little scrub brush (included in the jar), then rinse in luke warm water. I also got a lint free polishing cloth to dry it with. I keep it on when I wash my hands but take it off to shower.
Enjoy it! It’s beautiful.

First off, if you’re outside the house. NEVER TAKE IT OFF. I’ve seen many people leave their engagement rings in the bathroom!!
I take warm water and baking soda and make it into a paste. Then scrub it all over the ring. It shines it up really nice!!
It’s chemical free and safe for your ring!

Very pretty ring!! I am a waiting bee, but I already know I want to make something like this for when I have a ring to wear- Leave by sink or bedside so you know where your ring is and don’t accidently scoop it into trash!

Depending on where he got it from, you can take it in to get cleaned. Mine is from Kay’s, so every 6 months I take it in to get cleaned and get all the prongs and such checked out.

Congratulations!!! What a beauty on that finger 😉
I like my ring to sparkle lots and it does get oily and dirty, not noticably but it gets less sparkle. I wear my rings absolutely all the time but cover them up in gloves when I clean the condo.
I clean my ring with a very soft toothbrush and hand soap pretty much every second day. I bring it to the store for a cleaning and inspection every 6 months. It’s amazing how well they clean rings. Looks way brighter than when I clean it, haha!

Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! I plan to keep my ring squeaky clean and sparkling!

Congrats! I wear my ring all of the time. I just noticed that mine 9 month old, platinum, ering is losing the beading in the base of the ring. I should probably stop wearing it while doing push ups.

@spicyshimmer: Congratulations! Gorgeous ring. All the advice that everyone has given to you is great. When I first got engaged I didn’t know how to care for my ring. The best advice I received was how to care for it daily and also to know your diamond. When you take it in to get cleaned or repaired, take it to a jewelrer you trust. Keep it in your site, the girl who told me this got advice from her mother, who claims that her diamond was switched to a lower quality stone. Her mom dropped it off and came back to pick it up and the diamond wasn’t the same, she didn’t have paperwork so she couldn’t prove it. So stay with your ring, never leave it behind unless you trust the jewelrer and you have paperwork.

Love your ring! Cogratulations! I have bowls from Paloma’s Nest that I keep near the sink in the kitchen and on a stand in my bathroom for when I am cleaning or showering. I also follow Tacori’s advice and don’t wear it when I sleep. To clean it, I visit the jeweler’s or clean it with dishsoap, warm water and a toothbrush.

We have an instant hot water dispenser (for tea or cup o’ soup) – I put the ring under the steamy hot water and wash away the dirt – makes it beautiful!
