Yikes. Good thing they managed to fix it in the end.

I’ve heard of this happening to people before.  Glad it’s treatable though.

I don’t really get why they had to stop having sex for so long though.  Just wear a condom until you’re desensitized enough to go without.

@Mrs.KMM:  Right.

Plus they could do other stuff!

I’d be like sorry dude, guess you have to go down on me for 10 months.  Hahahahah.

It’s really sad that take sex out of the equation and they think they went from husband and wife to roomates.  Does that mean the days I don’t have sex with DH I’m just his roomate?

I mean I know having to go without for a long time would change things but…. you’re still in a loving relationship — aren’t you?!

I slept with a guy once where I was allergic to his semen.  That relationship ended quickly.

Though since many of us use a condom every time, there could be more of us unknowingly allergic to our partners’ sperm.. though I’ve had FIs semen on other parts of my body (TMI?!) so I guess I’m safe =D

Marriage isn’t just about sex. And I’m pretty sure this couple will find a way to overcome that.

That “try it before you buy it” stuff is just pure crap to me, I’m sorry.

Yeah, I’ll take “reasons to sleep with someone before marriage” for 500, Alex.

Good that they got around it, but man, what a bummer. I don’t get why they didn’t have sex for 10 months though, why didn’t they just use condoms??

@Bebealways:

@Mrs.KMM:

Best guess: if they’re of a religion that insists on virginity until marriage, it’s possible that their religion also frowns upon using condoms or the spilling of semen outside of a vagina.

@mchitt329:  agreed, I found that really surprising and sad, especially considering that their entire relationship and engagement had been sexless. FI and I never go a very long time without sex, but there’ve been times when a couple weeks would pass by as I deal with crazy workloads and crazy stress, and I still have never felt like we were just roommates. They must not have lived together before marriage, and I’m guessing that they had a hard time understanding that making grocery lists, sharing housework, and sharing space without constantly copulating is something normal that happens in a marriage, not just between roommates. I wish them luck finding romance and appreciation for each other as husband and wife outside of sex.

So what, try before you buy and if you’re allergic don’t marry him?  Undecided

I have dealbreakers, but being allergic to his sperm isn’t one of them.
