I vote for one of each! One for Seattle bees who are TTC/pregnant/new moms (or those who are comfortable with talking about that stuff) and then another one for the Seattle bees in general so the conversation can be more along the lines of weddings & newlywed stuff (besides baby-making).
As for location (for either event), I'm actually in Bellevue, so I wouldn't be opposed to something on the Eastside/Bothell/Lynwood, but Seattle is ok too (might as well go often now, before they start tolling 520).
Only big request for location: somewhere with a bar, not just a wine list-- somewhere that those of us who don't/can't drink can ask the restaurant staff to make something fun and non-alcoholic, they'll actually be able to do it, rather than just offer a lemon for my water.
I'm kinda on the same page as you. I think they should be separate because not all newlyweds are thinking about kids.I think it's better to just say that it would be OPEN to those without kids if they wanted to come but I don't expect newlyweds as a whole to want to come to a preggo/mom group.
In terms of drinks....I guess we could always meet at a restaurant. I'm not really a drinker so I had not thought about finding a place with a bar. I wouldn't want to be AT a bar of course....but I don't see why we would have a weekend lunch at a restaurant.
@red_seattle: btw...I also found a FB group that is for moms and pregnant ladies on the eastside. Here is the link
As I said in the babies post, I'm up for a meet up, I live in Seattle, but don't mind driving north or east. Since I'll have a baby with me, I'd prefer to meet in someone's home or a restaurant or coffee shop or something. I clearly won't be able to go to a bar.
@EK: Yeah, I don't want to go to a bar either. But maybe we could grab lunch on a weekend that was the lady that wanted to get a fake-cocktail could get her "drink" :-)
Also, that is just one option, we don't have to always do the same thing.
We could do crafts at someone's house...or walk around greenlake, or coffee at starbucks, etc...
I'm in! Not pregnant but definitely got baby fever.
Starbucks sounds good. Restaurants sound good too, but just don't want it to be somewhere with only a wine list and nothing else in terms of beverages... this pregnant woman wants to drink something fun too, even if there isn't any alcohol. :)
@EK- I asked on the other thread, but I'll ask here too-- since you are going to be having your baby so soon, is there a day/time that will work best for you? I think you'll have more constraints than others here... (but we'll be joining that club soon enough too.)
I will be on maternity leave so my schedule will probably be the most flexible. I probably wouldn't be able to do anything for the next couple of weeks, but will hopefully be up for something by mid/late May.
Anyone else in Seattle interested??
as for timing...Can I request NOT May 5-17? DH and I are going to to Ireland, for our belated honeymoon (...and now babymoon?)... Looking forward to oohing and ahhing over baby EK.
Enjoy Ireland!
Let's plan for late May and maybe we'll find a few more people interested in joining.
I'm back from Ireland! Is anyone else up for a meet up soon? Can't wait to hear how the birth of baby EK went... I assume baby EK was born while I was gone.
I'm just wondering if people from Seattle don't see this because the title of the thread doesn't mention Seattle in it. Do you want me to change it for you? I can change it to "Newlywed / Preggo Bee Meetup in Seattle?" or something similar if you want.
I hope we can get a few more members to be interested in something like this.
Sorry - I'm not on here much anymore, but I'm up for meeting. My baby boy is now 5 weeks old! I try to get out once every day, so I can definitely meet somewhere. Mondays are out, but other days are usually good.
Weekdays don't work for me except for Fridays. A mid-morning coffee meet-up would be ideal for me, but weekends are also good too. On weekends, Sunday (after 10 or 11) is better than Saturday.
Also-- how does Top Pot in Bellevue sound?
I could do Friday or Sunday late morning. Seatle is better for me, but I can cross the water if that's easier for other people.
I would be most likely to go if it was on the weekends. Seattle or Bellevue, it doesn't matter to me. Although, if it was in Seattle during a weekday night, I should be able to leave right from work.
Hokai, so let's see if we can organize this thing. How is July 10 at Top Pot in Bellevue at 10:00am?
Another option--Starbucks in U-Village is also pretty easy to get to on the weekends, even for those coming from the Eastside.
Is this still happening tomorrow?
I assumed this wouldn't be happening, since no one else had said it would work for them. :(
Oh, well that's too bad. Well, if we do decide on another date, please PM me since I haven't kept tabs on this thread.
I know I started this thread and then totally disappeared. Sorry!! :-(
I joined a group on meetup.com that ended up changing to a facebook group.
Anyone who lives on the eastside, I wanted to let you know about the group. I have really enjoyed the people I have met and we tend to have meetups a couple times a week. It's a great mix of ladies and I have made some great new friends. We tend to meet in places like Kirkland, Redmond, and Bothell.
On facebook search for: Eastside Mommy Meetup
There are moms with babies ranging in age from 1 week to 1 year and women (like me) who are pregnant.
There are also chapters of this group that are for Seattle, North Seattle, etc... I beleive that are all called "_________ Mommy Meetup" and can also be found on FB

Hi everyone!
I posted this on the "babies" board but some people suggested that I post on the Seattle board as a way of reaching more local people.
Would you be interested in attending a newlywed / pregnant bee meetup?
I live in the Seattle area and I had been looking for a way to meet fellow pregnant ladies (and also newlyweds) I have not found many groups in our area so I thought I would look into organizing one with the ladies on WB. I had originally thought of doing just a preggo bee meet-up but some other ladies suggested that we possibly make it BOTH pregnant bees and newlyweds. I'm not sure if newlyweds would want to go to a group with a bunch of ladies talking babies....but I thought I would put it out there as an option ;-)
Would you be interested in a meetup like this?
Do you think a meetup like this should be just pregnant ladies & moms, or a combination of that & fellow newlyweds?
