For your 1 year wedding anniversary? If so, what was it? If not, why didn’t you?
Everyone I’ve spoken to within my group of friends and coworkers actually did NOT buy their husbands a present for the 1 year anniversary. Instead, they either went on a trip or out to dinner and that was considered the ‘present’. Even if their DH’s bought them a gift in addition to the dinner/trip, they still did not buy anything.
What is tradition here and what is the norm? Thanks!

Well we haven’t had our 1 year anniversary, but we already decided that we’re going to Vegas for a long weekend. So we are doing the same thing that others have told you. We decided that we should do a trip for every anniversary going forward. Hopefully, we stick to it.

Its interesting that the men purchase a gift and the women dont. I plan on buying 2 things for my husband. The first is I am going to have a small anniversary cake made by the baker that we had loved and wanted to go with buy was too expensive. I will be surprising him with that on July 4th because we will be down at the lake where we got married. The second thing (to go with paper) is this print http://reubenmiller.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341ca70953ef0120a5517946970c-800wi because our first dance song was a Wilco song. I am going to change the location to the location of our wedding and change the date on the bottles to our wedding date. And at the bottom I will put “True Love Will Find you in the End” which was our song.
I have no idea what we are doing or if DH is getting me anything. I just wanted to do something special for him!

My first anniversary was two days ago LoL and yes, we both bought each other gifts. I got him tickets to Motley Crue/Poison in Philly and booked the hotel room. So kind of a gift/trip combo.
He got me an autographed cookbook and a couples cooking class.

@hotchildinthecity: CONGRATS on one year!
@moderndaisy: We haven’t made it to our one year yet, but I am most definitely getting him something. I think it’s interesting how the women aren’t getting their husbands anything. Why not? I actually love gift giving. Anyway, I am getting a Boudoir Shoot (works for paper too) done for our one year. I wanted to do one before the wedding, but it never happend. I will be 30 in Sept and our Anni is in Oct, so it will kind of celebrate both for me 🙂

We took a trip to the city we got married in and stayed at a nice boutique hotel that had a private indoor swimming pool (LOVED it). However we also both bought gifts. He bought me diamond earrings and I got him a Kindle (technically it was paper, haha).

Yes, I did a boudoir album (which is currently sitting in my bedside table, since I have another 3 months before I can give it to him!!) But if I hadn’t gotten him that, I probably woudln’t have gotten anything, since I think we’re planning a trip for our anniversary. To us, anniversaries have always been more about shared experiences (trips, nice dinners out) than physical presents.

Ours is in a few months and we’re planning to spend the weekend together doing some sort of mini trip but also, I plan to get him a gift. I’m getting him a word art print from etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/69657099/8×10-word-art-print-narragansett-towers and framing it. It’s the city we met and got married in as well as being paper and customizable so it fits all criteria. I just need to get my act together and order/customize it now!
