Not offended at all! :-) We got *drumroll* a whisk. That's it. I have just deleted our registry entirely. I can't believe people were hounding me to register and then didn't even bother with it. But I am a very weird case, so don't take me as representative!
we got a majority of our registry items (had about 20 things on a kohls registry)/received about $4k in cash.
We actually ended up with most things off our registry (we registered at Macy's and Crate and Barrel). We just ended up completing it last month and all we had left to buy were some china pieces: 1 large platter, 2 dinnerware sets and then 2 sets of flatware. We left about 4 china soup bowls on because we still haven't received gifts from a quarter of the guests (although some keep trickling in, including 2 of the soup bowls we left on).
Cash wise I was surprised we didn't get more (as in cash instead of registry gifts) but we did get over 4 figures just to give you an estimate.
No offense taken here! We did get alot of money but between the shower and wedding gifts we probably got about 1/2 of our registry items. We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel and Macys so we have a ton of options. Of course by the time it came for us to do our completion, we realized several items on our registry we "wanted" but didnt "need". We got a fair amount of gift cards to the stores we registered at, probably about $700 total between the 3 stores. Cash I think we got around $4-5k which was much more than I expected to get!
i'm not married yet, but i registered at target and bb&b. we had an engagement party and our whole target registry was bought. it's not even a big wedding, i was very surprised. i went and registered for more stuff because i felt like people would want me to for the shower. i'm hoping i have just enough for the shower and people will give cash for the wedding.
for those of you who had 4 figures in cash, did you have a larger guest list?
This is interesting! Newlyweds, can you post your invite list amount? I'm just curious honestly!
@crebre - yes we had 220 guests attend and invited about 320. Alot of the people that weren't able to make it sent a gift as well.
We got about half of our registry items. We got a very small percentage of non registry gifts and the rest cash.
we got almost everything off of our registry at Bed Bath and Beyond, and about $2500 in cash. Not bad considering we only had 25 guests!
We got about $1500 cash. We had a very small guest list, about 80 guests.
We got about 20 different things for the house, not very expensive though. Speciality glasses like wine, martini, and margarita and about $5k in cash? Most of the money was from my husband's grandma, the only grandparent who was able to make it to the wedding and his only living grandparent. Our guestlist was pretty small, 100 invited and about 30 that came. We did get cash or gift cards mostly from people who didn't come.
We invited 136 (this included about 20 kids, most parents opted to leave them at home and have a weekend away since our wedding was a destination for everyone) and we had 85 at the wedding. Like others said, guests who couldn't attend sent gifts.
Probably 2/3 of our (80-odd item) registry was purchased and we were given about $2k in gift cards and cash plus a handful of off-registry gifts. We sent out about 150 invites and had about 130 people attend.
We had a huge wedding - 400+ invited and 300+ came. So we got almost everything on our registries and 5 figures when it came to monetary gifts...and we were SHOCKED. We're by far one of the luckiest couples to have such generous friends and family.
For my daughter's wedding,120 came out of 140 invited. They received $8500. cash. For the bridal shower (small) we only had 20,but they got over half of the gifts on each of their 2 registries.
We had a 100 people at our wedding and 180 invited. We quite a bit off our registries, which were at BBB, Macys and KOhls. THe Kols was almost cleaned out except for a shampooer and a mini vaccum, plus a few things that discounted.
I didn't total it up, but we got almost everything on our registry. We had registered @ BB&B & LNT, but then LNT was going out of business. We moved some of those items to BB&B if comparable then added a pampered chef registry. Of course, we didn't register for any china, silverware or stemware and are both pretty established already. We don't really have the room and can always get some later or from my mom hopefuly!
We invited about 180 and had 90-something attend.
Our registry was like 20 pages long. HAHA! We had so much fun at Bed Bath and Beyond beeping away at everything. While we were there I looked away for 1 second and I heard beep beep, my hubby beeping away. We got alot off our registry for the shower..more than I expected. We got $12,000 for our wedding in gifts. : ) But that payed for less than half of our wedding.
I just used my kitchenaide for the first time yesterday (I got one but didnt even register for it). Every woman must have one! Def register for it!
I would say that after engagement gifts and shower gifts, half our registry was gone. For the wedding, we got maybe one or two registry items and the rest was cash. We used the cash to buy up the rest of our registries because it was stuff we needed. It was fun going on that big shopping spree, I gotta say.
We invited 150 people and 106 came. All in all we got about $800 cash and about 50% of the items on our registry (but that includes items that were purchased for showers). So I would say the total value of the cash and gifts that we got from showers and our wedding was around $2500 to $3000. About 1/10 of our actual wedding cost.
I was surprised how few of the big items on our registry were purchased - things like china and crystal (which I thought would be first to go) were hardly purchased at all.
We received about 1/4 of our registry items and the rest of the gifts came in the form of $ and gift cards which is exactly what we wanted (but didn't ask for). We only registered at one place and as someone mentioned above it was at the request of a friend.
The best piece of pre-wedding etiquette advice I found on-line was to not put any registry/gift info. in our invites and it worked out really well.
We have about 50 coming to the wedding, 1/3 of the registry was bought, no cash.
