Do you want him to be there for getting your hair done and everything? I had my hair and makeup done before I went to the location and our photographer arrived at 4 to do our first look and some pictures at another location. We didn't really have much time afterward because guests were starting to arrive for our 6 pm ceremony.
Well we're getting ready and planning on taking all the portraits at the ceremony/reception site, so no travel involved ... I was planning on having my hair and makeup mostly done, and having photos taken of my mom helping my into my dress, girlfriends helping with makeup touchups, etc as the "getting ready photos" ... the main thing is I am wondering how long it will take to take those gorgeous first look/bride and groom portraits that I've seen on the 'bee lately!
You should be ok. I had a 7 pm ceremony and my photographer arrived at 4. We did have some travel time - about 10 minutes, and we were running late so we ended up missing a lot of pics and opportunities that wanted.... and I didn't have him do any getting ready shots. To be safe - if you can afford another hour - get it - you won't regret it. It will make your day less hectic as well.
We had a 5pm ceremony with all photos beforehand. With 8 hours of paid coverage we opted for prep shots instead of reception shots and started around 10:30 or 11, with our first look around 1:30 or 2, an hour for just us, then we added in our wedding party and immediate family and had 30 minutes pre-ceremony for toasts and keeping calm! ;)
I think that sounds good. I was thinking that you meant you were going to completely have your makeup done at the venue. I agree with lara bee that you might want another hour to be safe. I didn't have any getting ready pictures taken by my photographer because I didn't really want to be half naked and having pictures done.
Thanks ladies! We've decided on 90 minutes for the bride/groom portraits, hopefully that will be enough time to get some good shots!
Hey Peanut!
I think that 90 minutes is a good amount of time for your portraits with your hubby to be.
Not sure if you need it, but here is my timeline from our wedding day.

Hello ladies,
We're planning on having a "first look", followed by the pictures with immediate family, before the ceremony. I was wondering what a good timeline to give the photographer would be if we also want "getting ready" pictures. The ceremony is at 7, so I'm thinking photographer arrives at 4 to take getting ready pics from 4-5, then first look/bride and groom/close family photos from 5-6 so we can get back inside before the guests start arriving ... is that enough time?
Thanks!
