I used Golden Gate florist on a recommendation of a friend and was really happy with Jay (owner) as he squeezed me in for a consult and offered competitive prices. The flowers he delivered (to the house and church) were very nice. Sorry to hear your experience has not been so well, maybe you want to try contacting him again. My friend also had amazing centerpieces from there and she was really impressed with the pricing.
We used Rock Star Limo for bus transport, again on a recommendation from another friend and I would also highly recommend them.
If you are looking for a cake you should def. do a tasting at Fatuli's in Newport (right next to the Newport Vineyards).
@slicey19:Thanks for your reply. This came as a suprise to me as well since Golden Gate was on the suggested list of vendors our reception coordinator gave us, so I know he must have a good rep. Maybe this was just a slip up in communication or something. I will definitely look into Rock Star and Fatuli's!
Hi! I'm an OceanCliff bride, too! My wedding isn't until June 2013 so I've got a bit more planning and waiting than you do!
So far, we've booked the following vendors:
I'm getting married at OceanCliff too, also in June 2013 and I also live in NJ! I'm meeting with Toni Chandler tomorrow to discuss floral arrangements. Of course I still have a lot of time but what i'm finding most difficult is affordable room blocks in the area and transportation since i'm not having my ceremony at OceanCliff. I'd also love know of any recommended DJs!

Hi ladies,
I am getting married in Newport @ the Ocean Cliff in May 2012, and recently everything has started to become more exciting now that its 9 months away :-) I have recently been meeting with some florists in the area and wanted to see who you are all using and what your budget is? Im hoping there are other Newport brides out there who wanna chat.
Here is who I have met with so far:
Golden Gate Studios: Spoke with owner on phone prior to meeting him in person. We set up a meeting for the following week. Drove all the way down from Boston, and he wasnt there. I was told he was on vacation. One of the workers from the back met with me and said this was the first time she has done anything like this...... Call me crazy, but I was at least expecting a follow up from the owner to apologize or see if I have any questions. Nope. Instead, I get a rough handwritten proposal of ($4,300) in the mail. No cover page, no follow up. Seriously??
Studio 539: Love this shop! Its full of everything pretty! Christina spent a lot of time with me and wanted to discuss every detail. Got the proposal and am considering her.
Sayles Livingston: Her work is amazing. I didnt think I was that into flowers until I met with Sayles. I thought she would be pricier, but her prices are on par with the other two.
Im meeting with one more and then hoping to make a decision, but if someone else has any other recommendations, please let me know! I'd love to hear about your experiences.
ALSO, if anyone has suggestions on limos, busses, hair and makeup please share :-)
