hi fellow brides!
my fiance and I are checking out some newport venues and would love to know if any of you have come across any great locations! right now we’re looking at oceancliff, belle mer, chanler and castle hill inn, are there any other similar locations that you would recommend? We’re looking at a summer wedding with about 140 guests. also, we’d also be interested in any economical venues in the newport area! Thanks!

- Wedding: October 2010 - The Atlantic Beach Club
I’m getting married at the ABC, which is technically in Middletown on the Newport line, it overlooks the cliffwalk and has much more reasonable pricing than many of Newport’s venues. Let me know if you have any questions! I actually did a post on it here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/03/24/venue-viewing/

I’m getting married at the OceanCliff this coming Jan! I absolutly love that place. We looked at Bel Mere also, and it is beautiful, but so expensive! We booked in the off season to have the venue of our choice, and not spend 50 grand.
I hope you find something you love and works for you! 🙂

I’m getting married in Boston but my venue is the same company as Bel Merr…and I highly recommend them! It’s pricey but they will put on a tremendous event!
Are you looking for a mansion-type feel? There is the Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, RI that is very pretty.

@summer11: Did you end up finding a place? We’re going with Linden Place in Bristol and absolutely fell i love with it. We also checked out Manor House and that was GORGEOUS! However, we didn’t think we could work with the layout of the house.

@Nati-Lyte: OMG Linden Place looks stunning, what a beautiful choice! When will you be getting married? We we’re split between Belle Mer and Chanler and ended up picking the latter just recently!

We chose Ocean Cliff! Their staff seems to be very pleasant, and also we were able to book the whole hotel (22 rooms) for the entire weekend! If you like Belle Mer, they are definately two very different places, so you may not like the traditional feel of Ocean Cliff. It is certainly something to check out!

@summer11: Congrats on picking a place! We’re getting married May 29th, 2011. It’s a great long weekend for our out-of-town guests. We’re planning from DC and we’ll be going back to RI this coming weekend and meeting with a TON of vendors!!! Lots of energy drinks to keep me going through the weekend.

Hi Everyone! I realize the last post was over a year ago…but I’m looking at Newport next summer and wanted to get some feedback from Newport Brides…specifically at Belle Mer Island House. I would love to know what you experience was like and what it was like having the Salon next door. Any other feedback for vendors (florists, shuttles etc) I’d love to know if anyone got a great deal from a vendor and would like to share!! Thanks!!!
