I paid too much to get makeup done to get it messed up with cake, so we played nice.
I plan on having my make up professionally done for the big day and because we will still be seeing people and having pictures taken during and after the reception, I don't want to have all that work ruined!
hahaha with 100% of the votes goes to being nice, i feel like an outcast! i really should get to that recap post with cake all over the place...
We're probably doing cupcakes instead of cake, but neither of us has the desire to smash any kind of cake in our faces.
We've talked about this at every wedding we've been to together...we're gonna be nice.
He thinks the cake smashing is tacky. Oh how I love that man, we are so alike. But if for some reason his friends hype him up into smearing cake on my face then it will be war. The gloves will come off and I shall be evil, not mean.......Cake War shall happen.
We will absolutely be nice when feeding each other cake. The smashing thing is one of my biggest pet peeves! I have schooled Mr. PP thoroughly on my thoughts about that.
We both definitely agreed on nice. It seems immature and aggressive to me, and I can't see starting out my marriage that way.
oh my gosh 110% we will both be nice to each other. we don't get the point or humor in smashing cake on each other..it seems so mean i guess, and kinda tacky.
I voted no, but for a different reason. We were actually just talking about how we're not into the whole feeding-each-other-cake thing. I know it's traditional, but we're planning to skip it altogether.
We are DEFINITELY being nice. I do not want to have to wipe cake of my expensively made up face.
I'm honestly surprised at the overly majority being "nice"! In my area people expect the newlyweds not to be, and encourage it. I guess it's fun & entertainment. I don't see it as mean or aggressive like some of you. The bride and groom are always smiling, laughing, and having a good time!! Let loose a little?
That being said, I'm still not sure what we'll do ;) Thanks for your oppinions!
If that boy even comes near me with cake!!!! :) just kidding ... but we'll be nice!
I will be wearing a dress that cost twice my rent. Yes, we will be nice.
If both bride and groom are into the cake-smashing ritual, I don't have a problem with other people doing it, but for me, it's an absolute no. I don't want to spend 20 minutes of the reception cleaning frosting off my face in the bathroom and fixing my makeup instead of dancing and visiting with my family and friends. I plan on cutting loose and having fun at the reception, but this particular tradition doesn't tickle my own personal funny bone.
Oh we were very nice. Why spend so much time and money to look your best (I mean the most effort you'll ever put into your appearance in your life) only to wreck it during the reception?
We have an understanding that there will be absolutely NO cake-face shoving!! Definitely nice!
He will probably be upset by me refusing him the ultimate delight of smearing cake all over my face...I'm sure I'll have to barter something fierce to make him promise on his life that he will NOT make a big mess of my face.
I don't know if it'll make a difference, though! Grrr
I'm okay with the smashing- the night is basically over at that point anyway

Will you and your hubby nicely feed each other your first piece of cake... or not?!
I can't decide on what I'll do... ;)
