To prevent it from getting scrunched, you'll need something with a sturdy interfacing inside. Maybe you could have your seamstress whip something up? Or, if you found a sash that was wide enough but too scrunchy, you could add interfecing to the back of it yourself. You can buy iron-on interfacing at any fabric store. Just test a small area to make sure it doesn't do anything weird to the front.
I would recommend having someone make one. You could pick a fabric and it isn't that hard... I bet someone that even worked in the fabric department in a crafts store would be willing to even make one for you!
It's hard to tell from the pix but go to David's Bridal http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_return_ribbons_bridal.jsp
I just went there and I tried on a dress with a sash that was pleated in the front, exactly like a cumberbund is! The pleats were only in the front and then the long sash part in the back was plain finsihed satin.
I want to say it was about 5"! It was $49. They are having a sale right now until the 14th too! So maybe they will have a sale on that item too! But I know you can buy them separately too!

Hi all,
Any advice/suggestions on where to find a nice, wide sash, almost obi or cummberbund like? I don't want to wear a ribbon around my waist, but my dress NEEDS something there. All the ribbons/sashes I've tried so far get bunchy. Any ideas? Keep in mind I am incompetent with a needle & thread.
