then I was very worried her ring have been in the family forever l i started thinking ohh god ohh god what if lose ring or drop it down a drain or break it or lose the diamond or it slips off swimming

so i can def feel for you i think the dreams would be worst I think we are both worrying to much lol

its just cuz we care though b.c. the ring means something to us, to some oh you break it you get a knew one when its means something you worry about it

@oangeo:  Having bad dreams about something new is normal, at least for me so don’t worry. If you’re really concerned and want to rest a bit easier I would recommend getting a protection plan that can replace the ring if lost or replace a diamond if it falls out. Know that most rings though are built to handle a substansial amount of abuse.

Another way to help alieviate your fears is to remove your ring during activities you feel may damage the ring, and have a ring holder of some sort so you don’t replace the worries of breaking it, with worries of losing it 🙂

And btw… good luck as if you’re having the dreams about the ring, expect dreams about the wedding wehn you get to planning it. I had a lot of those and some were scary and some were just plain wierd.

@oangeo:  You need to relax better before you go to bed!  Do you sleep with it in?  You shouldn’t.

@ceebree:  Really, why shouldn’t I sleep in it? I just got engaged two days ago too (shout out OP, we’re engagement day twins!) and I’ve been sleeping with my ring on.

@kimmo416:  I personally never sleep with any jewelry on, but I only say that because I’ve read several posts lately of Bees whose rings came off during sleep.  They usually find them in the sheets, under the bed, etc. after flipping out.  You can’t be careful about your ring when you are unconscious!

@ceebree:  I guess I should take it off at night, especially because it’s a little too big and needs to be sized down. I just don’t want to be without it lol!

I haven’t had nightmares (so far), but do you have ring insurance yet? Once you do, that should bring you some peace of mind.

I agree with a PP that once you accidentally whack it on something a few times and realize your ring didn’t even notice, it’s also relaxing. And jewelers can fix most issues that arise, if anything ever does.

Mine has a pretty, velvet-lined box it “sleeps” in by my bed. I feel very secure with it there while I sleep. I’ve fallen asleep with it on before, but I prefer to put it in its box. My FI once scratched me with his watch by accident in bed, so now we don’t wear metal to bed. Diamonds are much harder than metal (which can come in handy if you’re ever tied up… I read a news story about a woman whose evil husband tied her up and tried to bury her alive, but she freed herself by cutting her ropes around her wrists with her diamond engagement ring) but we don’t use ropes in bed lol and the last think I want to do is gouge either of us with it when I’m asleep.

@oangeo:  i used to have a LOT of nightmares about my ring when I first got it. They’ve slowed down now, but it does still show up in my dreams sometimes (ive never had dreams about rings before.)

I sleep with mine on because when I had those nightmares I needed to know it was on me and “safe” when I woke up

@oangeo:  I don’t have dreams, but I am freakishly careful of my left hand. Thank goodness I’m not left-handed or I’d never get anything done! I’ve never been so emotionally attached to a piece of metal and a rock before!
