my photographer is in mendham. Pricing started at 2900 for 6 hours of basic covererage, and went up to about 5600 for her full package with all the bells and whistles
Prices are going to vary drastically because no two packages are the same. Some are front end loaded, some are back end loaded, and some don't include anything but digital files. Also, the quality and prices of professional albums varies drastically with supplier, so it depends on what you are getting. All things equal, prices between photographers will vary depending on client demand, experience, and workload.
I'm working with Blooming Studios out of Bedminster (so more central NJ). We are getting 10 hours of coverage from 2 photographers, an engagement session, guest signing book, a DVD with all images and a 30 side, flush-mount 12x12 album as well as 2 5x7 prints and an 11x14 print for 3650.
Wow! I priced Blooming Studios and that sounds like a good deal. I don't remember the photo package including all that but it was 5400. for photo and video when I met with them. I shocked myself budgeting $5,000 for photo/video but someone made a good point to me that it is a special once in a lifetime day and with the video, not everyone at our wedding will be with us forever and we want great memories of them on our day, not just adequate ones. I found a great photo/video out of West Orange that was closer to $6,000 but she was personable and her work was beautiful. I wound up with a different company out of Central Jersey that was even more...yikes! (I'm still pinching myself) I don't know your budget but if you think you may want the info. for the WO company I'll dig it up for you. With any vendor you need to see first if you connect with them and then see if their packages are even what you want, that's how we narrowed it down and though I'm paying more...a LOT more...it will be worth every penny and then some!
my wedding is in north jersey, but after looking at alot of photographers.. i went w/ Tiffany Atlas out of Philadelphia. She does beautiful work and seems to be considerably less money then NJ photographers.. booked her for 2400.00. I just posted my engagement photos recently, check her out!
thanks all, this is really helpful! still doing lots of research. photos are super-important to me, but at the same time I need to set a limit somewhere.

Jersey, the entire state itself, has the most expensive photography packages I've seen thus far. I've been venturing out and looking at PA/DE photographers. I absolutely love photography, but I don't agree with having to pay over $3K for pictures.
I did, howewer, find someone who was about $2500. His name is Paul Dempsey. I love his work. He's based out of south Jersey though. Figured I'd share the link.

I've been looking into several photographers in the Northern NJ area. I'm wondering if other bees out there have hired photographers in the area and are willing to share price ranges they paid. I can't tell if what some of these photographers are charging is "average" or "above average" for the area (northern NJ is super-pricey for wedding services in general). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
