We didn’t have their full package. We had them for our whole reception plus cocktail hour. We had some lighting and dancing on the clouds. We used Elite Sound Entertainment in north NJ. Their rates were comparable to other popular DJ companies in our area. We didn’t have their highest package.

Our DJ is $895, my least expensive vendor by far. We are adding up lighting which will bring the total to about $1,100. That’s for 5 hours of dj and MCing.

We paid $600 for unlimited hours and he did the emcee duties as well. Also provided uplighting.

Our guy has his DJ business “on the side” (as in he has a “normal” 8-5 job during the week), which is why his prices are so low. But he’s fully insured, had references, etc, and we got TONS of compliments.

He was awesome!!

It’s East Coast Event Group out of Bucks County, PA. I’m not sure of where they travel to, but I assume they would go wherever within reason. Bucks Co is convenient to pretty much everywhere, haha.

@BurlapnLace:  we paid $1250. That was for 6 hours and up lighting. We absolutely loved our DH, he was on top of it and went above and beyond!

Ours will be in NYC and we got a steal deal, $450 for 5 hours with lighting and an MC due to the fact that our wedding is on a Thursday afternoon and its a small event. His prices are based on event times, dates,  and sizes of parties and prices go up to $3700. Also he’s a DJ on the side so he has a full time regular job. We’re taking a chance since we booked him on GigMasters and any cancellations on his part will be made up for and he’s not seeking the balance until the day of our wedding. He’s fully insured and we’ve finalized our contrac, he’s also already started the process of contacting our venue and providing them with the necessary paperwork so, so far so good.

I did my DJ search through GigMasters.com because we wanted a cheap DJ but with some protection, we put in our info and our price range and we got several bids. This dj was the most straightforward and didn’t try to upsell as other services like every other DJ that contacted us. We didn’t even want lighting or a separate MC because we wanted to keep it inexpensive but all of that is being provided. DJs located outside of Manhattan, such as in Queens/Brooklyn etc and who aren’t rated all over wedding websites are generally much cheaper.

We paid $1100 for 4 hours (4 hours was the base at $800, each additional hour would have been $250) and a photobooth, which was pretty awesome.  The company is Sounds of Music Entertainment in NJ – I think they did a good job.
